Happy Friday Book Music Day! I had no plan for this week of guest DJ-ing until I was on my way to a gathering of book people a week ago, and suddenly it became obvious what I needed to do. So I'm curious, do the rest of y'all have song/book pairings you'd suggest? Also, please drop your lists.

1. He's not from NC, or even the US. His name is not Raleigh (or Richard), either.
5. I ripped this from a promo compilation CD (white card sleeve with sticker, I think I paid $1), which credited it to the compilation Sampladelic Relics & Dancefloor Oddities, but that only includes a remix of this song. Yet the version I have has a different length than that remix, the versions on the original single, and the album version from World Clique. Listening to those on YouTube, this is a different version than all of them with a bit more Bootsy Collins at the beginning, and a length of 4'02. I wonder if this mix/edit is accidentally exclusive to that release (but I don't have enough time to dig).
9. Leon Russell cover.
9. Leon Russell cover.
I want to hear that as a Wilco cover.
I listened solely to Monster Magnet's Dopes to Infinity while reading Joseph Conrad's The Heart of Darkness.
And pretty much the Knife's Silent Shout while reading Charles Burns's Black Hole (graphic novel).
Oh, hey, I haven't done a list in a few million years. Also haven't updated the music on my phone in a few million years, so here's a list that's entirely unrepresentative of what I've been listening to lately!
