This was great of course but now Country music radio stations should play more women over the airwaves.
In the 90's I preferred the male country singers probably 90/10. Today that percentage is flipped.
I had a similar (though maybe not quite so stark) split back then. I suspect it had a lot more to do with the opportunities and play time women got than it did with actual preferences.
I just saw a tweet from CMT that effective immediately they're going 50/50 on male and female artists, both on TV and radio.

I wonder if Country (& Western) radio wasn’t significantly closer to 50/50 in the Sixties & Seventies than it was in the Eighties, Nineties, & Aughts.
Based on what I've heard from Dolly, I'd say the same problem existed back then.
Given the number of excellent Country women active back in that time, that’s disappointing (though ultimately not surprising, I guess). Bill Malone does a great job keeping a decent balance on his weekly radio program here in the People’s Republic, but he doesn’t play contemporary Country very often.

Seriously based on talent and importance, it could easily be 75-25 female to male performers.
The 50/50 guarantee isn't designed to increase women's participation, but guarantee a floor for the men.
I already know what you're wondering joe, and the answer is yes, this is the longest titled post. It barely beat out second place by 158% more characters. Longest non-video post is a game log, also by you of course.
