I did as well, until I saw where it was. Just a bit more out of the way than I hoped.
Yes. If it was a little closer to StL, I would have had a chance to make it work.
Or a little closer to Nashville, or Chattanooga...

On the Smoker:
Pork ribs on the Pit Barrel Cooker today with mesquite wood chips, prepped with olive oil and All Purpose rub. I hung a block of some Muenster cheese loosely wrapped in some tin foil until it got melty, and we had that with crackers for an appetizer.
(no chills or diarrhea since Wed, fingers crossed)
Nice.
We carried out from our local Gyros place last night. Word had gotten around that the place was struggling (they have a terrible, out-of-the-way location and so don't benefit from the downtown solidarity that has risen up). Naturally, the place was swamped. I called in the order, he said it would be an hour. Got there, had to wait an extra half-hour. Owner (super nice guy) was very apologetic. He even ran out of rice for his platters. I just told him we were happy they were busy.
tonight: grilling burgers. Tomorrow: grilling pork chops to go on Bún Thịt Nướng (or as close as I can get).
Vietnamese noodle salad is pretty close to the perfect summer dinner. Cool, spicy, salty, sweet, umami, crunchy, light.
That looks awesome, I gotta try it.
it really is. The nuoc cham is a key (super easy to make), along with pickling some carrots and maybe daikon. I often pickle the cucumber sticks too.
The basic salad is great with grilled shrimp, pork, even fish. Have not done it with beef, but I'm sure that would be good too.
Dido. Holy moly.
We’re doing two pies tonight from the King Arthur recipe Pepper shared a few days back. One is going in my Lodge skillet, the other in the LloydPans Detroit-style pizza pan. The latter is a bit on the large size for the dough, but we’ll see how it goes.
Cut my hair today. Looks OK on the front (not really), but a disaster in the back.
This after watching a video on how to cut your own hair. Dude kept using unfamiliar terms to me, like "deep protective spray", "style like normal", "natural sea salt spray", "product", "putty", "emulsify", "lock it in to place", and "texture and separation".
so, i got a TP-Link AC750 wifi range extender (powerline edition) and have it set up in the paired configuration. Ethernet seems pretty solid so far.
One question I have -- the electrical outlet in my office is installed upside down (grounds are up instead of down), so the extender unit has to be plugged in upside down. How concerned should I be about this? It seems mostly to be a heat dissipation issue??
I'd be more concerned with passing code than with your extender. Flipping your outlet is a two minute chore, and one of those minutes is finding the correct circuit breaker
You don't really need to find the correct circuit breaker, it will add a bit of a thrill to the whole process. Anyway, it's that large of a shock. Not that I'm speaking from experience.
Quick searching suggests it is not against code to install the outlet in any direction. I've seen reasons to install it with the ground up because it is controlled by a switch or for safety reasons.
Question for the nation: last summer I had to chop down an apple tree because of a fungal blight. Would you use the wood for smoking? What about campfire? Campfire over which food is cooked?
My neighbor always buys apple wood chips for smoking his briske, and the end product is always spectacular
Meanwhile Mrs. Runner can have a virtual cocktail hour with a few of the staff that lasts for six hours.
I've always wanted to go to Elizabethtown.

But blighted applewood?
🤷♂️
Yup.
I've yet to find a convincing authority on this.
