    Santana started a bit under half of his games and still easily led in strikeout rate. Checking his splits, he was at 8.9 as a starter. His ERA was lower as a starter and would have just edged out Guardado. He's going to be good.

          1. I may get there eventually--it depends on how long the series lasts. There are a lot of fun non-first-place years: 1984 would be one of them. Others would include 1977 (Carew's run at .400), 1961 (the inaugural year), 1967 (the heartbreaker), 1982 (all the rookies), and probably some others I'm not thinking of right now.
