I first read this as 80's artists and was really confused by the content.
Last chance for $5 Twins tickets today. Fees apply, but that's still a real good price.
"Fees apply" carrying a lot of weight there as the cost of two $5.00 seats with fees is $22.50. I am planning to go to Tuesday's game however. Will probably buy tix on street or at gate. Are you working that game?
Aren't they discounted tickets? And weren't they waiving fees a couple of days ago at the start of the offer?
Just to be clear here I'm wondering if I am remembering wrong. Electronic ticket fees are dumb 3rd party stuff that applies to most venues.
They waived the fee for one day.
Normally I think you can get in a weekday spring game not against Yankees, White Sox, Brewers, for $6 or $8. I know there are fees but maybe have them at a percentage of the face value. I doubt very much it costs $6.25 to process a ticket and I completely understand that all venues do this.
There are other things that for me play a part re price (waiting in line for a ticket v how I value my time) but they don't apply at this momemt. Walk up is for the sure way to go.
I won't be working any games until June. I haven't heard back since I submitted my background check forms last week, but they said there would be three training sessions and then I can start signing up for shifts after that. I did get tickets (without the fees) for Baltimore on Wednesday, (taking my nephew) and for Sunday (with the wife).
I still read his stuff occasionally, but my enthusiasm for him totally evaporated after the Paterno debacle. And, if I’m honest, I feel like I’ve grown more in my appreciation of the game than he has as a sportswriter in the last decade. He can still write a good column when he wants to, but it often feels pretty same-y. (Not quite as bad as Jay Jaffe reusing the same phrase in a recent FanGraphs article, then linking to the piece where he had used it earlier...)
I hope Sam Miller’s non-compete with the 4ltr ends soon (and that he doesn’t wind up at The Ringer).
I actually like when he writes about his family more than his sports writing. Probably due to the fact that we have daughters of similar age.
Same page here. I also now only listen to his podcast when Schur is on. Pos by himself has grown stale for me. Ellen Adair is a delight but Pos controls the convo with her around.
And yeah what Algonad said, too.
Sam Miller is up there with Jon Bois; Midas touch
Agree with all said here. His kids stuff is the best, he’s kind said all he’s going to say sports-wise it seems. Also his Paterno stance was also a huge turnoff for me.
Minor Details, covering all of the weekend's games, is now posted.

For sure. Not a good look.

It's been a couple years since he started, which means JoePos will be leaving the Athletic.
I'm guessing Substack.
Jumping Joe.
