Hunter Owen homered in the fourth to break a 1-1 tie.

Batting stars:  Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 with a walk.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 1-for-3 with a home run, his third.

Pitching stars:  Jhoan Duran struck out six in three innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  Juan Minaya struck out five in three innings, giving up one run on two hits.

Opposition stars:  Joe Hudson was 2-for-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk.  Kevin Kramer was 2-for-3 with two walks and two RBIs.  Chase De Jong struck out six in six innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.

Good stats:  Gordon is batting .393.  Andrew Vasquez gave up a run in 1.1 innings and has an ERA of 2.16.

Bad stats:  Daniel Descalso was 0-for-2 and is batting .048.  Keon Broxton was 0-for-3 and is batting .167.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 0-for-3 and is batting .174.  J. T. Riddle was 0-for-4 and is batting .175.  Minaya has an ERA of 5.56.  Robinson Leyer did not give up a run in a third of an inning and has an ERA of 6.43.  Derek Law allowed two runs in 1.1 innings and has an ERA of 7.71.

The Saints led 5-1 through four and held on.

Batting stars:  Ben Rortvedt was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs.  Ryan Jeffers was 1-for-2 with a double and two walks.

Pitching stars:  Griffin Jax struck out eight in six innings, giving up one run on seven hits and a walk.  Tom Hackimer struck out three in a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

Opposition stars:  Christian Bethancourt was 3-for-4 with two doubles.  Ke'Bryan Hayes was 2-for-4 with a two-run homer, a double, and two runs.  T. J. Rivera was 2-for-4.

Good stats:  Rortvedt is batting .500.

Bad stats:  Daniel Descalso was 0-for-3 and is batting .042.  Tzu-Wei Lin was 1-for-4 and is batting .143.  Keon Broxton was 1-for-3 and is batting .175.  J. T. Riddle was 1-for-4 and is batting .179.  Yeltsin Encarnacion was 1-for-4 and is batting .185.  Hackimer has an ERA of 5.40.  Ian Gibaut allowed two runs in an inning and has an ERA of 15.95.

Leading 2-1, the Wind Surge scored three in the sixth to put the game out of reach.

Batting stars:  Aaron Whitefield was 3-for-4.  Ernie De La Trinidad was 2-for-4 with a double.  Jermaine Palacios was 2-for-4.  Mark Contreras was 2-for-4.

Pitching stars:  Chris Vallimont struck out eight in 4.2 innings, giving up one run on one hit and two walks.  Calvin Faucher struck out six in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up a hit and a walk.  Brandon Koch pitched two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk and striking out one.

Opposition stars:  Jacob Amaya was 1-for-3 with a home run (his third) and a walk.  Justin Bruihl struck out three in 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

The Wind Surge scored one in the third and two in the fifth.  Four pitchers combined for a one-hit shutout.

Pitching stars:  Austin Schulfer pitched 6.2 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and one walk and striking out six.  Jovani Moran struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up a walk.  Alex Phillips pitched a perfect inning.

Opposition stars:  Michael Grove struck out seven in 3.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits and two walks.  Zach Willeman struck out five in 2.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

Good Stats:  Aaron Whitefield was 0-for-4 and is batting .328.  Palacios is batting .309.  Jose Miranda was 1-for-4 and is batting .309.  Yennier Cano struck out the only man he faced and has an ERA of 1.00.  Moran has an ERA of 1.54.  Phillips has an ERA of 2.00.

Bad stats:  David Banuelos was 1-for-4 and is batting .107.  Andrew Bechtold was 1-for-4 and is batting .170.  Schulfer has an ERA of 6.32.

Record:  The Wind Surge is 11-7, in second place, a half game behind Arkansas.

BELOIT 8, CEDAR RAPIDS 5 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The Kernels scored three in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead, but the Snappers scored two in the seventh and four in the eighth.

Batting stars:  Gabe Snyder was 3-for-4 with a two-run homer (his fifth) and a double.  The Kernels have yet to win a game in which Snyder has homered.  Spencer Steer was 1-for-5 with a three-run homer, his second.

Pitching star:  Owen Griffith struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up a hit and a walk.

Opposition stars:  Thomas Jones was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Griffin Conine was 2-for-3 with a home run (his fourth), two walks, and three RBIs.  Ynmanol Marinez was 2-for-5 with a double.  I do not know how you pronounce "Ynmanol".

Starter:  Andrew Cabezas struck out four in 3.2 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and no walks and striking out four.

Good stats:  Matt Wallner was 1-for-3 and is batting .333.  Snyder is batting .327.  Steer is batting .308.  Cabezas has an ERA of 2.13.

Bad stats:  Wander Javier was 1-for-3 and is batting .179.  Leobaldo Cabrera was 1-for-4 and is batting .182.  Michael Helman was 1-for-4 and is batting .184.  Zach Featherstone allowed four unearned runs in a third of an inning and has an ERA of 8.31.

It was 4-4 through six, but the Snappers scored three in the seventh, one in the eighth, and two in the ninth.
