Morris probably should have kept his mouth shut, though I think that's a general truth.

Short notice, but I think I'll be making a stop at a restaurant known for its walleye sandwich in the late afternoon.
That patio is beautiful
Can't wait to see it someday.
But how's the walleye??

Gil was still in the Dominican summer league when traded. I put his success on the Yankees doing well in developing him. Looking over his minor league stats and nothing jumps out as a great starter. Great strikeout numbers at every level but also a high walk rate.
Can't fault the Twins for not anticipating how Gil would develop. Can absolutely fault them for continuing to let Jake Cave and the Bad D continue to take up space. If they're going to roll with a very subpar defense centerfielder, let's at least see if there's any reason to keep Nick Gordon around.
Jake Cave has a better track record at every level than Nick Gordon.
I don't think Gordon is likely to be any good, but the tolerable Jake Cave of a few seasons ago isn't coming back. Might as well let Gordon prove he isn't worth a 40-man roster spot this offseason just in case he makes a sudden Denard Span-like improvement upon his entire minor league resume.
I got a fairly close-up look at Gordon in the on-deck circle last night. He's not much wider then the number on his back. I wonder if he has to run around in the shower to get wet.
I mean, Cave's major league OPS is higher than Gordon's Minor league OPS, and Gordon has looked utterly lost in CF, so I'm not sure that's really an upgrade of any kind.
I'm not sure that Gordon can be a super utility guy in the outfield. His arm looks Jacque Jones-esque out there.
It looks like my thought was, basically, "Who knows?"
That was supposed to go under DG's comment.
A totally fair assessment.
And very prescient
During the Tampa series I got to work early one day so I could catch batting practice. One of the K9 guys was there in the bleachers with his dog and when a ball hit the seats down in front he unleashed him and let him chase it down. I hollered down that he was cheating and he laughed. But when he left a minute later he gave me the ball because it would distract the dog if he kept it. I was working a gate that night and spotted a kid in the front of the line with his glove and Little League jersey on. When we opened the gates, I called out to him and tossed him the ball, told him it was from BP. He and his mom and dad were pretty happy about that. What I didn't know is that the kid's mom knows someone in the front office and they were there early to go down to the dugout and meet some players. When they left after the game, they stopped by and showed me the ball that was now sporting half a dozen autographs on it. That pretty much made my night.
and that, my friend, is why you have that cool side-hustle. Great story.
But there is no mention of what the penalties are if a team is under the floor. Loss of draft picks? a monetary penalty to get you up at 100 mil? Get stuck with Chris Davis' contract?
I'm listening to the end of the Mets-Giants game, and it seems like there are ex-Twins all over the place. Trevor May. Jake Reed. LaMonte Wade, Jr. Zack Littell. In addition, we have Tyler Rogers, who's not an ex-Twin but has a connection to the Twins.

Just for fun, here's the WGOM's real-time thoughts on the Cave-Gil trade

Wildly different response than the last time Morris did a misogyny.
Oh to be a fly on the wall during Black Jack's bias training.
