August 21, 2021: Consolation Prizes

As the Twins are out of the race all but technically, what fun individual or team achievements do you want to see? For example, Arraez's current run is a fun one to watch. Maybe hitting 40 pitchers for the season?

  1. Team leaders in pitching wins, will Meat Raffle lead the team in them by the end of the season

    Berrios - 7
    Maeda - 6
    Theilbar - 5
    Happ - 5

    1. In the mid-Seventies, Tom T. recorded a children’s album, Songs of Fox Hollow, that is absolutely beloved in our house. A big-time country star singing avuncular, charming songs about root beer-sneaking snakes, little baby ducks, feeling pretty inside, and his care for little listeners.

  2. Tropical storm warning now for H'istan. Predicting 2-3" of rain (and we've already had a lot recently).

    1. Our thunderstorm last night was a dud, I was hoping for a drencher and all we got was some light rain and sprinkles.

  3. The Boy and his love interest are in town for a week. First time seeing them since The Before Times, and their first visit to our "new" house (we moved in September before the beginning of COVID).

Aaaand purpleair.com is showing PM2.5 in the 150s again today. ☹️

  4. I think we need to sacrifice a chicken to break this Yankees curse. I just happen to have one marinating in the fridge, I’ll roast it good on the alter of fire for dinner.

    1. I intended to roast a chicken today, since it’s unusually cool right now, but the store didn’t have any whole chickens. So, grilled pork chops it is.

      1. I consider that a moral victory! Sadly, however, it appears that the powers that be have decided it will have to made up on September 13.

  5. Loons on the man advantage is about as successful as this past seasons Wild PP. Yeesh.

  6. Early farm report:

St. Paul trails Iowa 1-0 in the second. Bryan Sammons is pitching for the Saints. He just pitched an inning on Wednesday, so I assume he's on a short pitch count.
Wichita and Springfield are scoreless in the seventh. The Wind Surge has just one hit, a single by B. J. Boyd. Jordan Balazovic struck out six in six shutout innings, working around four hits and five walks.
Cedar Rapids trails Wisconsin 3-1 in the fourth. Cody Laweryson has struck out seven, but has allowed three runs on four hits.
Fort Myers trails Dunedin 2-1 in the seventh. Jesus Feliz homered for the Mighty Mussels' run. Randy Dobnak struck out five in three perfect innings in his first rehab game.
