  1. I never sent out thank yous after last Christmas, but in the spirit of starting the year as I mean to go on, I just wrote out my portion of the thank you notes and am now looking forward to badgering the rest of the family to do their part so I can get those babies in the mail on Monday.

  2. Last night we did our second pandemic New Year's Eve party. Just the wife and I. We dressed for the evening, prepared a bunch of party food*, retired to the ultra lounge for refreshments and a movie, and fell asleep on the couch before midnight. So I marked it a par.

    *meat candy - li'l smokies, wrapped in bacon, sprinkled liberally with brown sugar and baked until bacon is crisp and sugar is caramelized

    1. We had another couple over for outdoor cocktails and snax during the afternoon. It was brisk (mid-40s at the start, dropping to the upper 30s by 6-ish when we called it a day).

  3. Airing of Grievances, cont.

    Last night, around 11:30, one of our more dumbass neighbors set off a whole ginormous box of fireworks in the street in front of our house. It felt like Beirut. Thankfully, none of the trees or houses or electrical wiring caught fire, despite the very close proximity to the ordnance.
