March 12, 2022: We’re Back

So, MLB is back, which is cool. More importantly, how do you guys want to do the fantasy league this year, especially regarding keepers? I'm not going to go through the previous exhaustive process (I have a feeling that's why we haven't seen rpz for awhile...). Also, there seem to be no settings other than just to allow keepers.

Everyone cool with that? Or just no keepers? Oh, also, eligible keepers are just whoever is on your roster at the end of the season.

  1. I'd be in favor of a reset on a keeper league. Feels like it's gotten a bit unwieldy over the past few years, with a shortened covid season in there and more injuries and such.

    1. I suppose I could even volunteer to be commissioner, if that's not stepping on toes and there's no other takers.

        1. In my recollection last year was a one-off, not the start of a new keeper league. I mean, I honestly have no idea if I drafted/ran my team with that mentality, or if I planned for keepers. But standing here right now, I feel like I wasn't thinking about keepers?

      1. What platform is being used? Yahoo still or something different? I'm wondering about APIs to automate some of this to make tracking keepers easier.

  2. Picked up my ticket to see Tenacious D at Surly in September. Anyone else going?

    1. I also just picked up two tickets! A Monday night in September doesn't sound like something I'll want to do, but I said the hell with it.

I've been creating month-before-they-happen reminders for all of these upcoming concerts. With this one I finally said, screw it, I'll just buy them and see what happens. I saw Tenacious D at First Ave back before Jack Black really hit it big. Probably around 2001? The place was full and rocking, but it still felt like I was seeing something no one else knew about. (Sidebar. After the show my friend asked Har Mar Superstar/Sean if he could use HMS/Sean Na Na music in his student film project - he was a film studies major. The answer was, "Absolutely!" Simpler times.)

  3. Last year The Ringer moved its MLB podcast featuring Michael Baumann, Ben Lindbergh, and Zach Kram to Spotify’s closed garden. This year, the Ringer killed it:

  4. I and my whole group of extended family have tickets to a Friday night spring training game against Baltimore. When booking the tickets it seemed perfect. Night game, so not super hot. Fireworks. Night baseball. Not in cold Minnesota. The night before we check in to our condo on Sanibel. Night baseball. Yay!

Then the lockout drug on and I assumed we weren't going to this game. So I'm extra happy things are back on. I haven't investigated the terms of the deal, and I still sort of like fake baseball (OOTP) more than real baseball anymore, but still excited!

    1. I should have known better. They are apparently disrupting the entire spring training schedule. All us ticket holders now have to scramble or something.

  5. So the Wolves and the Wild are both in danger of making the playoffs this year. As of today the Wild have a 96.3% chance of making the playoffs, and a 4.7% chance of winning the Cup. Sounds about right for a Minnesota team.

That's what the kids call an evergreen tweet.

    1. But Juan Minaya is coming back.

  6. I've been trying to have more of a creative outlet over the last year or so, and I've gotten to the point I put some of my stuff on some shirts. The first two are original, and the third an edited version of an existing logo (Georgia [the country] National Rugby).

Ayumu Goromaru, in his iconic kicking pose. It says (I hope) Goromaru-san in kanji

    1. Wishing you well on your recovery and rehab, Bo. It's going to suck real bad for awhile so never hesitate to ask for help. Voice of experience.

    2. Good luck on the recovery and rehab. Here’s to hoping your own personal spring training starts up soon.

    3. Oh Man, NBB. Here's to as quick a recovery as possible. We will be thinking of you.
