Hey, gang, busy today. Could someone put up a video so we don’t have MGK two days in a row? Many thanks.

In case anyone is interested there are a number of presales this morning at 10:00a for concerts this fall:
Father John Misty - Sept 30, Oct 1
Mitski - July 14
Bauhaus - Sept 18.
All can be passwords are THECURRENT
Mitski is at Surly outdoors so don't think you need to get tickets a day early unless there is some sort of VIP package you are interested in FJM and Bauhaus at The Palace so it's GA unless you want to score some good balcony seats.
I went to the Palace last night to see Watchhouse (fka “Mandolin Orange”). Place was deserted.
Me: “Am I a dummy … did I see the wrong date? Did I go to the wrong venue like my brother did for Drive-by Truckers* last fall (he was in Mpls)?”
/checks tickets and promotional posters/
Me: “Nope. They’re supposed to be here. Hmm…”
/checks First Ave website - nothing (and no mention of the show on their calendar), checks band website - nothing about April 7 in St. Paul. Next show is April 12 in Chicago. Looks at tickets website and see “Postponed” but with no explanation and no makeup date listed… weird. calls brother to warn him/
Me: “Not sure what’s up, but the venue is closed and there’s no one here.”
Him: “What? That’s weird (checks all the same stuff and says) I don’t know what’s going on.”
/couple walks up - there had been no one else to that point - and I explain what I knew and didn’t know and how I’d sought information.
Her (young(ish)): “Did you check their Instagram?”
Me: “No … uhm, I forgot that was a thing…”
/she checks and says/
Her: OH MY GOD! SOMEONE IN THE BAND GOT HIT BY A CAR! IN IOWA!!!”
its happening
personally, I'd rather lose Kepler than Rogers
Twins, Padres in agreement on trade that will send Taylor Rogers to San Diego and Chris Paddack and a reliever to Minnesota, sources tell @TheAthletic. Details being finalized.
multiple people on the tweets machine report its Rogers and Rooker for Paddock and Emilio Pagan
Still hate losing Rogers but thats a pretty sweet deal
Trade Simulator says nope, bad trade for the Padres.
Unless you have Mo, trading your closer for a starting pitcher is a good idea
Sweeping generality! Matt Shoemaker is a starting pitcher
😆
Joe Nathan for Brad Thomas, who says no
This is the right answer.
The Twins don't have much of a track record for acquiring quality SPs (OR relievers) via trade over the last decade. Or at least not that I can recall.
Kenta Maeda excepted.
With Ryan, Gray, and Paddack in the starting rotation, I guess we're going to see that put to the test.
The Odo trade was a big win
The Twins traded Jermaine Palacious to acquire Odorizzi. He's back in the organization as of last year.
Fair.
This front office is definitely not tied to its relief pitchers. It’s good to see them trading them for active roster needs or prospects (Alcalá & Celestino, for example) rather than playing craps by trading high-level prospects for to acquire relievers.
A brief Twitter scan. Padres fans think this is laughable and they fleeced the Twins for two horrendous pitchers they couldn't wait to get rid of
On the other hand, my friend who's a Tigers fan texted me to tell me how much he hated that this deal helped the Twins and that they are making smart moves.
Rogers is a good get but Rooker isn't much.
Rooker didn't really have a future with the Twins. I see a lot of "if the Twins can get Paddock to his 2019 levels..." which is a bit of a concern.
And had elbow issues last fall.
It all depends on his health and if there is something they can fix. They've been 50/50 on that so far.
Rooker was kind of at a dead end with the Twins OF, and once again Twins trade a player at his peak (although Rogers is an FA after this year). I think this trade has promise, though.
This was a sensible trade to make. Paddack’s elbow scares me, but he certainly has upside and will have a great pitching development team to work with him. They definitely needed more starting pitching than they had available to start the year. I know that some arms in AAA will probably show up at some point in the season, but Paddack buys those guys some development time and has definite upside if he can refine a third pitch and stay healthy.
I’m disappointed to see Rooker go, but I get it; they have Sanó and his bad contract with blocking Rooker from making a weak side platoon with Kirilloff. Not losing Arráez or Larnach to acquire arms is significant. I didn't expect that to be possible. Sending money to San Diego helped keep this from cutting deeper on the prospect or controllable major leaguer side. I’d rather they trade dollars than talent any day.
I expect Garlick to take Rooker’s reserve outfielder spot, but it'll require an additional 40 man move since he's not already on the roster and it was an even swap of players.
Max needs the platoon, not Kirilloff.
I like the idea of Kepler and Arraez mostly sitting against lefties. I think we might have the position flexibility now to do it.
Yes, Kepler needs a platoon — but I figured Kirilloff might get some early rest against lefties as he works his way back from last season. Whether you had Kepler & Rooker and Kirilloff & Sanó paired in platoon roles or some other combination, I think there will be some effort to give guys a break against lefties until they have a head of steam going or take starting time from established guys.
Opening day of both baseball and the Masters. I honestly don't know which one I'm more excited about.
Tiger Woods is golfing again and is hanging in there against the field -- that's probably number one for me at the moment.
Have any questions been answered about that accident? From what I recall, no one (of authority) ever looked into that much. I'd want to know more about that before I go in for any sort of redemption tour.
Yeeaah, I think those questions have reasonably obvious answers that will never be officially given.
I don't really look at it as a "redemption" tour. I just think that Tiger Woods and Augusta National are the best combination in golf history. Separating the art from the artist, and all.
I never appreciated watching golf until I started playing. Then I realized the level that the pros play at and I got hooked on amazing shot-making.
Suzuki walks in his first major league PA, came back from 1-2.
Cubs and Brewers are my opening day option. It's nice working from home with a TV in your office.
Just watched the top of the second in Kansas City. The Guardians announcers referred to their team as "the Indians organization" once, "The Tribe" once and
"Cleveland" many, many times. I understand tripping up here and there but they seem adamant to avoid saying the new, non-racist name as some idiotic form of protest.
Top of the third now; still just "Cleveland." Waiting to see which announcer will break and realize this is childish.
Color man, top of the fourth. Ball's in your court, PBP guy
I had the two mixed up. In my defense, neither is very interesting and neither is very insightful, so I had to guess. Color guy still won't say Guardians, but if he refers to the team from last year, he's quick to call them the Indians.
I just turned on the radio broadcast, and Tom Hamilton seems to have no problem calling them the Guardians.
Seventh inning now and I've given up hope that this guy will say it. They even showed a previously recorded interview with Austin Hedges about the name change, and while the guy that's saying it said "You can't say it any better than Austin just did," the one who won't say it met the segment with complete silence.
There are still tons of UND hockey fans who won’t say the Fighting Hawks name, although it’s been nearly 10 years.
The only acceptable defense is that “Guardians” was a mediocre name choice by an owner who should be shown the door by his peers.
It's definitely a bad name.
Well...so was "Indians"
Very similar to the Commanders, yes?
Maybe both those teams chose bad names on purpose, so that they can try to switch back to their racist names a few years down the road.
I extremely approve this level of cynicism. (the cynicism, though, not the prediction)
I see Gilberto Celestino is coming up with the big league squad and not Kyle Garlick.
Here's the performance of players who were coming and going in games I have attended in person: Batters

Super thrilled about Pagan's work with inherited runners compared to Rogers
