With the playoffs playing Wolves, the playoff bound Wild, and the technically first place Twins all off last night, I was in desperate need of a fix.

I ended up taking the off night as a chance to go back into the office and get some work done without interruption. But all I really wanted was the distraction of at least one team playing.
My once-yearly cold has come on and I gotta say I'm not a fan.
I’m pretty sure I’m in day twenty of mine. I haven’t had one linger like this since 2018.
This is crazy:
Since the beginning of 2019, the Twins are 124-73 with a +233 run differential when Buxton plays and 94-109 with a -97 run differential when he doesn’t.
I think the Twins will quickly become the big screen game.

Yeah, once they started cutting down the lead I started feeling pretty good about tonight. Even with the silly turnovers, it's feeling like they're playing their game. Unless Ja has an epic assist night and the rest of Memphis steps up (or Ja unlocks the Wolves lock-down on him).
He just did one of his patented flops. Ugh, I really dislike the guy now that I've watched him more.
Man, outside of Tyus, the Grizzlies are really unlikeable.
No argument will convince me the refs didn't cost the Wolves that game.
I'm not about to offer any.
The Ja Morant slip that resulted in Beverly fouling out was egregious.
This is the first time I've paid close attention to basketball in 30 years.
I’m having trouble enjoying these games because I think reffing is hella arbitrary and I’ve now got to experience what happens when a coach throws a hissy-fit about reffing one night followed by a shift in the calls the next game. It is both infuriating and 🤷♂️ why should I even care. Even if I’m making all of that up, the whole “reffing to the score” seems to be real to me and it takes me right out of it.
It was an exciting finish, and that's what the NBA wants. It doesn't feel authentic, though.
What bothered me was right before the ANT three the announcers suggested that Memphis might intentionally foul so Wolves could only score 2.
If the NBA instituted the Elam ending I think I would enjoy it a lot more.
I'm with you on this being the first time I'm watching in a long time. I don't actually feel like the reffing has been that bad most of the time. When I see the replay. But it feels like the misses are big misses - specifically, calls that should go against one team but end up going for them, not just being not-called. For example, there was a Wolves player who got pushed out of bounds. If it was a no foul call, that's one thing, but since the ball was out of bounds, there was necessarily a call and they gave the Grizzlies the ball too. Or Ja Morant slipping (so a travel, presumably?) and it getting called a foul.
That said, I felt like it was still a fun game to watch tonight. I'm 100% a bandwagon fan, and can't imagine I'll ever be more than that for basketball, but that's okay with me.
Just flew home from Portland and boy are my arms tired. We flew out on Friday and did dinner at Deschutes. The Irish red was my favorite, great balance and body. Saturday the womenfolk went wedding dress hunting and I just walked around the city for several hours. I stumbled onto the Pickle Place, the merch store for the Portland Pickles of the Wild Wild West League, but they were closed. Sunday we drove up to the Cascade Locks on the Columbia and did a little hiking and picnicking. Monday it rained so we went to Powell's City of Books. A full square block storefront with over 1,000,000 books in stock, including a journal from the Lewis and Clark expedition that's priced at $350,000. Good trip, but it's always nice to get home.
We made that drive as well, and stopped at Thunder Island Brewery to eat. All of the falls are beautiful, and I've always said that the BNSF run on the north side of the river and the UP one one the south have to be some of the most scenic routes in the US.
BTW, friend of mine says that your brother is recovering nicely, and when he starts sharing guitar videos from his phone you know he's feeling better.
