It was Prince's birthday yesterday. Here's an interesting anecdote I came across that I hadn't heard before:
During Prince's first appearance on Saturday Night Live, he performed the song "Partyup" and sang the lyric, "Fightin' war is a such a f***ing bore." It went unnoticed at the time, but in the closing segment, Charles Rocket clearly said, "I'd like to know who the f*** did it." This was the only episode of SNL where the f-bomb was dropped twice.
Speaking of Prince, it is a strange coincidence that he was born on my brother's birthday and he died on mine.
I was never really that into Prince before I moved to St. Paul, when I started to listen to him a bit more. But seeing the entire Minneapolis skyline in purple even got to me, it was very moving.
I remember watching his American Bandstand debut.

I'm trying to think of a way to get rid of my old lawnmower. I can't just drop it in the trash (because gas/oil), otherwise there's a charge to dispose of it.
Doesn't StL have a Freecycle?
Indeed it does

Well, StL is ½ hr drive away, but even so the mower doesn't work dependably anymore
I left my old one on the curb and it was gone before trash day. Based on its condition though, it was most likely the metal scrap guys.
Cul-de-sac
That seems like a market inefficiency to me.
I’m not really a Star Wars guy, but it has just enough lodgment in my mind that I occasionally think “I should set that out for the Jawas.” The People’s Republic has a robust curbside collection program for large items (and a drop-off site for others, like cooking oil & electronics), but if it’s a metallic item, there no real point in requesting a collection tag.
This reminds me that I need to see if the city will take mine away.
Viking funeral?
I did that once. With my pet rat.
🤍RIP, Sally 😔
