I'll be at ValleyFair this weekend. That is a strange thing to say out loud.
Fair food! I'll be at the Polk County Fair again today.
Abe, former prime minister of Japan, was assassinated with a homemade gun this morning.
This is such shocking news.
Also shocking: The last assassination of a national political figure in Japan was when a 17-year-old used a sword to kill Inejiro Asanuma, leader of the Socialist Party, on a Tokyo stage in 1960.
I see what you did there.
My heardle stats:
19 in the first second
18 misses
11 in between
For most of the misses, you could let me hear the entire song and I'd still miss.
Yeah, I'll be boycotting the All-Star game this year. Everything Manfred touches turns to shite.

I pretty much lost interest in the all-star game when Selig let one be declared a tie. I always hope any Twins in the game will do well, but that's about it.
Yeah, I keep my eye open for Twins ABs in passing, but otherwise meh.
Just schedule my first ever surgery. Should be fun!
Tip your anesthesiologist good.
Stopped down at local whole-animal butcher yesterday in search of sausages for supper. Came away with a pound of lamb birria links (roughly frankfurter-size) and a quart of frozen duck-pork stock. For supper & lunch today, had the birria links grilled on brat buns with a healthy sprinkle of Chihuahua cheese, salsa verde, avocado dip, Kewpie mayo, and Yellowbird Serrano hot sauce. Wish my jar of pickled red onion hadn’t gone bad while I was out in the deserts, but that’s how it is.
Thinking about what I’d do with the stock, I’m leaning toward a small batch of pho with Vietnamese meatballs. I should stop back at the butcher to see if they have any tendon or tripe.
Yummo. I'm in protein-mode right now so this sounds fantastic.
I'm always impressed with you, meat, bS, et al who really know a ton about food and cooking.
I just have zero time or inclination for such culinary adventures.
This has long been my favorite place on the Web to talk about food. There are some very talented cooks here who have shared recipes for dishes I now make regularly, and I’m really grateful for that kind of community. Cooking is, for me, a deeply ingrained love language, and sharing food just about one of the most friendly things a person can do. The community cookbook that is The Nation Has An Appetite means an awful lot to me.
Ditto. It is so much fun to see what y'all are cooking and to learn from you.
Thanks for the shout-out, Mags. I'm an amateur, but I am enthusiastic.
Y'all can start setting up your semi-retirement in my town and I will put you to work. Kidding aside, I love the food talk here as well. Maybe we should consider a WGOCookBook?
!!!
I have been playing around with Paella. My third and fourth attempts were killer, but I am going to wait to post a recipe. My daughter just got back from Spain and she not only had authentic paella a few times, but also took a cooking class and paella was a dish they made. So, I am going to make a pan or two with her to further perfect my recipe.
Maybe we should consider a WGOCookBook?
I love this idea, zooomx.
Har. Dude at Whole Foods was wearing a T-shirt that said "Abort Politicians".
