  1. This afternoon after work Mrs Runner and I will be early voting* and then hit Total Wine for aperol and prosecco to make Aperol Spritz at the get together Saturday evening. I'll also need to do some leaf blowing/raking ahead of this weekend's Third Annual Osage Orange Street Bowling Challenge, which actually will be a challenge with the dry weather we've had given that the number of actual fruit and their smaller size (normally grapefruit size, more like orange this year).

    *Cayman Islands, baby!

    1. A friend recommended downloading your archive. I don't fully understand the whole situation but wanted to throw that out there.

      How To SelectShow
    2. I went and grabbed a Mastodon account just in case. I'm not sure how this'll all shake out, but I'm prepared to cut bait on Twitter like I did on FB

      1. I have one (Mastodon), but haven't opened it in months.

The platform seemed clumsy, in comparison. But....

    3. I'm not a fan of Elon but I don't get the reaction to it. The founder of Twitter was also a nut but I was on there despite that.

      We'll see what happens.

      1. Three founders. I assume you mean Jack. Elon is very different in practice, but I agree with your point. I think Elon is serious about changes with ... a lot and I I'll wait to see. I'm not entirely sure the dev's pms and whatever employees are really going to jump ship.

    4. A new age, indeed.

        1. I plan to use the block function liberally. If things are still gross than I will move on. I also have created at Mastadon account as a backup.

    5. I have an inactive account. I was planning on deleting.

      Just in case FZ SelectShow
      1. Not really FZ SelectShow
    6. I dropped Twitter long ago, when opening the app became a swan dive into a seething pit of toxic lies and hate. I'm sure Elon will sort that out, though.

      1. This is pretty much where I was at, been trying to talk myself into deleting my account for months now. Musk buying it was the last straw and after 24 hours, I am happy with my decision.

    7. I am holding onto my account (for now), as it is the quickest source of local high school scores for our area. I rarely post, but have unfollowed so many people over the past year or so. My feed does not have much for toxic tweets, unless someone I do follow retweets something. I have taken a similar path on the book of face. I am almost to the point that my feed is free of stupid posts.

  2. Just noticed this for the first time: did Kirby ever touch third base?

If you look at the final ten seconds of the video, I don't think he did. There's no shot of Kent Hrbek heading to second base either way. Also, no shot of Larkin touching first base (although he was getting close when the camera pans away). Two of Kirby, Hrbek, and Larkin were required to touch their respective bases to avoid a Merkle Boner.

    1. The view of Kirby when he gets to third is blocked by Gladden. It looks like he might not have touched third, but I couldn't say that for sure.

        1. I think this would be the case for Larkin, too. If you look at the Vin Scully call, at 0:28 there’s a cut to a cross-diamond view of the celebration at first. Given that it’s happening on the dirt near the bag, I think it’s pretty likely Larkin touched first. Hard to imagine Twig having a mental lapse on something that fundamental.

Gardy totally abandoned his post, though:

          Gardy abandons third

    2. I never noticed TK intercepted Ron Gant on his way off the field, embraced him, and said something. He appears to have done this before celebrating with his own team. I wonder what TK said.

    3. I think he did. Repeatedly watch the final 10 seconds where he comes into frame behind Gladden, it appears to me that his stride changes slightly - pushes off his left foot to enable the right foot to land squarely on the bag - and his shadow angles perfectly to align with the infield edge of third base visible behind Gladden's left hip.

  3. Why is Puckett even near third base when the ball drops? His run doesn't matter. If he misjudged the ball and it's caught he's getting doubled up. And if somehow it dropped in front, they're not turning a double play

    1. I was at the game and it was pretty obvious once the ball left the bat that it was going over the outfielders head. Gladden played it safe by tagging up. Kirby could have too I guess, but it was a no doubter right away.
