Tried that new string based social app. The one that's owned by the slightly less repellent, clueless billionaire. It's pretty not great so far.

The new one is very cluttered.
It does the thing their other websites do where it sticks ads and "recommendations" between what feels like literally other post, which make them virtually unusable. At least on bookface you can dig deep and find a chronological setting. IG is purely slave to algorithm so I barely touch it anymore (not that I really touch bookface either).
I abandoned Facebook and never really started on Insta. Think I'll let this one pass me by, too.
There will probably be a Twitter replacement at some point. As far as I know, it doesn't exist yet.
A private discord server with my friends and this place is all I need.

Breaks the heart
If I could find that one old Twins commercial where Tom Kelly walks by and says, "Aw, that's a shame" to the [Guardians] fan that just had his car window broken, I would totally make a gif out of it and post it here.
I found a playlist with many Twins commercials in it but didn't spot that one.
Aaahhh, that might be my favorite Twins commercial.
Going through that playlist and that era had so many good ones. Helped that the team was good too.
Same. My favorite as a kid was the one where Brian Harper said "Welcome to Minnesota" when a batter stepped into the plate. There was a catcher in my little league who would say that too and it was hilarious.
Were we in the same little league, Beau? Because that catcher was me.
To quote Norm MacDonald: wait, what?
The Torii Hunter birthday party is up there for me. Totally understand how that kid got made into a meme.
They had a really good media team back in those days.
Seems like it's been a while since the Twins had good, fun ads. Might be time for them to try it again.
If I recall, it was the Periscope ad agency that made those memorable ads
I tried to get my friend that used to work for the Twins to come here and give us some background but I don't think he will.
It doesn't paint Twins Prez in a positive light.
That's a really cut down version so you only get TK. Including the window breaking is amusing because you can catch they didn't time it right after a couple loops.
Pablo López ranks among qualified AL starters:
#2 Innings #2 Strikeouts #3 xERA #4 Innings/start #5 xFIP #6 AVG against #7 OPS against #7 Quality starts #7 SO/BB ratio
Lopez is 27 years old and the #MNTwins have him signed through 2027.
You guys, I'm beginning to think the trade wasn't as bad as Mackey and Zulgad have said it was.
I listen to Mackey and Zulgad practically every day. I don't think they say the trade was bad and in fact liked it at the time. Their complaint is with Falvine for not developing pitching over the past 6 years to the point that the Twins had to trade good players in order to get pitching help. They more lament the fact that the Twins had no choice to make trades like that in order to have any semblance of a major league pitching staff.
That's pretty fair.
And that the offensive players they've been developing can't play defense so it made Arraez redundant.
That sounds about right. I think it will take a long time to really judge the trade because I expect both players will deliver strong value to their teams, it's almost a matter of which one will break first.
After swapping reviews of silent films we’ve watched with our daughters as the girls played together yesterday afternoon, I unwittingly dropped a film recommendation on a director with final-cut privileges and somehow didn’t make a total fool of myself when he said he’d never heard of the (fairly obscure early Russian) flick.
Music from season two of The Bear. Don't read if you haven't watched.
Anyone here use collagen supplements for joint pain/arthritis? I have read some research summaries suggesting reasonable evidence that Type II collagen supplements are safe and effective for reducing joint pain/inflammation.
I've done glucosamine and chondroitin supplements but they didn't seem to do much for me over the course of a year or more. When my arthritic knee acts up I mostly use a neoprene compression sleeve and if it's really bad I'll rub some Voltaren and dirt on it.
arthroplastiphobia?
Yes.
I would like to get through a few more years before I need a replacement or resurfacing. So I am casting about for a minor miracle.
After having my knee scraped and scope’d my doc said those pills are rubbish. I just use whiskey as rubbing alcohol.
Just finished round two of the Jeopardy! process - the Zoom quiz. Fingers crossed sometime in the next year I get a call for in-person test.
Nice!
Where do we keep the VJ schedule? I think I'm up next week.
ahh, you are. i tried to email the address you have on file here, but it looks like that account is closed? in any case, yes, you are.
Thanks, I'll start setting up.
Through nine innings, Toronto and the White Sox are tied at zero, and have a total of three hits between them.
Toronto gets six singles and a double in the eleventh to take a 6-0 lead.
The White Sox score two in the bottom of the eleventh, but that's it. it's a doubleheader, so the two teams will be coming back to play again shortly.
Polk County Fair, DPW report:
I am continuously tickled to see all the Twins jerseys, shirseys, and caps instead of red Cardinals paraphernalia ad nauseum. "Mauer" was the only name jersey I saw. I was mildly miffed when I spotted a lone NY cap, until I saw a Southside City Connect. Shameful.
MLB.tv should market the service to the demographic that enjoys turning on games where the Yankees are down 13-0.
Haha, the ump warned both teams after the Yankees pitcher (who's struggling with control) hit the batter, then immediately tossed the Orioles manager after he calmly walked out to ask why. Oh, blue, never change
I would watch that!
Brief acquaintance Isiah Kiner-Falefa pitched the ninth. You love to see it.

Found a higher quality version but the framerate feels off.

I haven't seen it, but I know bears are cool.
