  1. I know local dads are all excited about the new Replacements re-issue (rightfully so), but old friend of WGOM, Lydia Loveless also has a new release today. It's the first one in at least 3 years and after a lot of personal and professional trauma. Check it out. Oh, and the second song, Poor Boy, is a banger. Can of Corn and I saw her perform it last summer as she opened for the Drive By Truckers and about 2/3 of the way through the song, we turned and gave each other a bro nod.

    1. I was wondering when we’d get it! I remember both of us trying to track it down to listen again and having nearly nothing to show for it.

    2. Hey I used the term "local dads" in my comment above. I read that this term is actually pretty demeaning to all the women who are rock fans in general and Replacements fans specifically. Which is 100% correct. I can't edit the comment above but will refrain from using that term in the future.

  2. There’s a damn fine chance the Twins will clinch today, on a day where I’ll almost certainly not be able to see it because of my cousin’s wedding reception. As it happens, her dad is the one Twins fan I know who’s obsessive enough to fit in here, so he won’t see it either; not that he’ll be thinking too much about it as his firstborn walks the aisle.

I also get to see Skim today a month after I dropped her off at college. She belongs there and she’s thriving, but man, I’m looking forward to being more okay with her not being around. Sour Cream will be the truer test, as Skim is much more entrenched in friends and her long-term boyfriend while SC and I have nearly everything in common (other than her total disinterest in baseball and basketball…sigh) so we hang out quite a bit.

    1. Somewhat related - Twins single game Wild Card tickets went on sale at 10:00. Picked up four to the Oct 4th game as a gift (to all) and celebration of Niblet’s 9th birthday the following week.

In my view as of year two, it gets easier, but never easy. It's hard to integrate your body and mind on this one! (My mind knows the importance of all of this, but my body still feels things, thank you very much!)

  3. I always want the Twins to win, of course, but it would be all right with me if Jo Adell hit a couple of home runs for the Angels in a losing effort.
