January 10, 2024: Juicy

I was wondering if we were going to get snow at all this winter (something I didn't say aloud just in case), and it's decided to show up this week. I'm glad I worked from home today* so I could shovel 4 times so far because a shovel full of this stuff is roughly 300 pounds.

  1. Estrellas lost to Licey 9-2 Monday. Licey scored four in the second and led 7-0 after three. Lewin Diaz was 0-for-2. Roel Santos was 2-for-4. Starter Raul Valdez lasted just 1.2 innings, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out two, to take the loss.

Estrellas had another tough day on Tuesday, giving up six runs in the third to lose 10-4. Lewin Diaz was 0-for-4. Jurickson Profar was 2-for-3. Micker Adolfo and Wilin Rosario each homered. Starter Esmil Rogers only pitched 2.1 innings, allowing three runs on thee hits and three walks and striking out one, to take the loss.

The good news is that Estrellas is still in first place with a record of 8-3 in the round-robin postseason tournament. They lead Licey by one game. It appears that there are seven games remaining.

  2. Overnight rain and temperatures topping 50 °F means our first snowfall is gone. Snow tends to melt quickly here but 72 hours is unusually fast.

  3. The plow was nice enough to do every street in our neighborhood... except ours. Thanks, fellas!

    1. The plow came down our cul-de-sac with significant speed, and the mailbox barely withstood the barrage of heavy wet snow. It has a bit of lean to it now that it didn't before...

    1. Brutal. I can only hope Fleury is in his ear tonight, reminding him that he’s earned the right to be here.

  4. Our neighbor is on snow patrol for us until I'm cleared to do heavier lifting, so I don't have to worry about shoveling for another couple of weeks at least. Silver linings.

    1. These final minutes have been frustrating. The offensive foul on NAW... was exactly the same shove Tatum just did before the Holliday 3. Consistency please.

  5. Kinda of wish the Wolves would go back to NAW in OT, he was on fire in the 4th.

Could have used Mike Conley to calm things down late. ANT was horrible on the offensive end late in the game.

All in all, the Wolves showed guts. Jason Tatum is all worldly . Not a horrible loss.

    1. I was at a trivia night, so I only had a gamecast on. From what I saw, I was kind of glad that was the only thing I was watching because it would have been way more stressful if I was actually watching the game.

(I did notice that Tatum was certainly having himself a game though.)
