Since winter isn't really a thing anymore, I put last year's Summer Mix back on the podcast feed. Go check it out as the weather apparently calls for it.

82° today in StL* -- we barely hit that in the 10 days we were in HI.
*29° low overnight tonight
In beautiful Gettysburg, SD, the high yesterday was 66. The expected high today is 18.
Thank you, Jay Jackson.
(And a Chicago Dog is a salad.)
Cut that guy ASAP.
Not sure if any of y'all saw this article:
Matt Canterino introduces Twins Clubhouse to Catan board game
Was it really shortened to "Settlers" by people? I get why they changed the name and calling it only "Catan" was my mental shorthand too.
I've always used Settlers.
Before they shortened it to "Catan" I had colloquially called it "Settlers" as well.
I purchased Catan as a Christmas gift for the family two years ago … we still haven’t played it (and I never have before) because my kids were 7 & 10, it felt sort of intimidating, and I’ve only now remembered it is in the games closet.
Ugh, I need to finish truing up my front wheel since the riding seasons is apparently now 10 months out of the year.
Notable name manning CF in today's game.
I had my annual review today. Turns out I'm a good man, and thorough.
Nothing we didn't already know.
Hopefully the review wasn't THAT thorough....
Am I supposed to be excited about the Twins trading for a 29-year old journeyman OFer?
I already miss Michael A.
I don't see how Michael A is any better.
yeah, this is pretty net neutral, but no, it’s not very sexy.
Yes, you absolutely are. This is Minnesota sports.
Margot a journeyman? He's played for two teams, four years each. He's projected for about a 95 wRC+ and Taylor is projected for a 85 wRC+. He has less power but strikes out half as much so his OBP is a lot better.
It's totally shopping in the bargain bin but it's a good move nonetheless.
Margot appears to be mediocre defensively. Taylor, significantly better.
Neither is exactly stellar offensively, but Taylor still was (slightly) better by oWAR last year in only about 50 more PA, thanks to much better SLG.
Sure, bargain bin. If either were needed to play a lot, something else (*cough* Buxton *cough*) will have gone significantly wrong.
That's why projections exist. Taylor's wRC+ since his career best of 104 in 2017: 104, 71, 74, 76, 75, 89, 96. He's going to be 33 this season. Consider his 89 wRC+ in 2022 I'll take a healthy over of him in the 70s again but his projection of ~85 wRC+ seems reasonable. Margot over the same span: 90, 81, 84, 94, 94, 105, 93 with a projection for next year around a 95 wRC+ plus he's four years younger.
True. Of course, trends and age matter. Some sources suggest that Margot's defense has taken a nosedive the last couple of seasons, due to declining sprint speed (since his arm is nothing special to begin with).
At least he is relatively cheap.
He's actually not that cheap. The Twins are just splitting the check.
That's what I was referring to.
