  1. Only one calendar* in this office...

*joke is that the toughest part of getting the photos isn't setting up a beautiful location and timing it perfectly, it's finding a train where the cars aren't tagged with graffiti

      1. I have a couple decades of UP calendars here. Note: calendar may not be the one pictured. See store for further details. Not actual size.

  2. I'll admit, Gary Larson does have a unique sense of humor, but I always connected with it.

      1. I’ve been steeling myself for a “meh” reaction when I share all my Calvin & Hobbes collections. I think they’ll age fairly well, but you never know.

Then again, she loves The Andy Griffith Show despite needing all kinds of footnotes to make sense of things, so maybe I need to have more faith that Watterson’s work is evergreen.

        1. They have aged well. My oldest, ten, enjoys them. I had a Far Side calendar for last year that he read. I don't remember his opinion on them though. He tends to appreciate absurd things but more in the line of xkcd's What If series (he's read each book multiple times) than Gary Larson's style.

I think we have about half of the collections so I've been meaning to get the full run.

          1. They've aged a little too well, I think. A lot Watterson's commentary is even more on the money 30-40 years after it was first published.

(Also, I've got the full 3 tome collection.)

            1. I'm here for Watterson. C and H is the greatest comic of all time. And they've aged like a fine wine. He also retired at the top of his game, walking away like Barry Sanders or Jim Brown.

    1. I just saw an article that said Topps supposedly self-audited with a 3rd party (same auditor than my company uses) to prove that rare cards are indeed distributed randomly. I also learn from that article that they're yet another company that got Fanaticided.

      1. As someone who’s in a card shop all day five days a week, it’s jarring to hear people just learning about what’s the talk of the store almost every day. We expect some significant downsides to Fanatics and their near-monopoly, but the upside is that we expect the return of Topps basketball and football cards.

  3. Bad shit happening on the UCLA campus. It's like a cross between Vietnam protests and Nazi mobs, with a soupçon of police complicity.

    1. I think I’ll jump on my conspiracy horse and take a ride along false flag avenue and outside agitator road. Some of us remember details of the George Floyd riots.

        1. More like Nazi wannabees. They hate pretty much everyone and want to see the world burn.

          Oops, is that too FZ?

          1. Sorry. I read George Soros and not George Floyd!

I was so confused because I saw some parents on the Wisconsin parent page on Facebook claiming that George Soros is paying the protestors.

              1. Yes. The boy made it official.

Thanks for all your recommendations. I'll definitely check out those restaurants.

      1. If only any of these locations had members that were training in how to be journalists and actively reporting on this.

  4. Does anyone know if the Twins sell any Standing Room Only tix on an individual game basis? Just looking to get in the ballpark Friday night and right now looks like cheapest with fees is about $20.

    1. Good question. They may not be available for weekend games. I know the student SRO/Ballpark Access discount is only for Mon-Thur games.

  5. Does anyone have experience with OTA DVRs, e.g., Tablo?

I have a high, south-facing window that would be ideal for an indoor antenna. Tablo now has a reasonably priced, 4-tuner model. As I understand it, I could then stream OTA to tvs around the house.

The current model is only ATSC 1.O, so would have to be replaced in like 2027, when 3.0 broadcasters no longer have to support 1.0.

Thoughts? (I have one Roku TV and two with Roku sticks).
