It was a fun game. Especially since every game I attended last year turned into a shit sandwich.
I think that it was the first inning and they had just turned the double play. I had never sat in the Legends Club before - I highly recommend. Soft, squishy seats. Cute(!) waitresses(!). Baseball, like, right in front of you.
And you're very own concourse separate from the riff-raff! My one trip to Target Field was in the Legend's section, so I'm afraid to sit anywhere else.
I particularly like how they covered the glass in the doors so they couldn't see in. I don't want people like that looking at me. Ew.
Ooh, you went all instagrammy with the photo, making it washed out so it looked like it was from the 60's or something. Know what would be cool? Using some mad photoshopping skills and remove the newer skyscrapers in the background so that it looked like the ballpark was there in 1965 or something. The only building you could see from that vantage point would be the Foshay, and perhaps the Dain tower.
Great softball game last night. Started off rocky by giving up 4 runs in the 1st and 2 runs in the second while answering with none of our own. However, we broke it open in the 3rd with a 3 run homer, then in the 4th got 10 straight hits to score 9 runs. They guy who led off also got the 1st out on his 2AB. It was great. We let up another 3 runs the next inning to cut our lead to 12-9, but we got 'em out 1-2-3 in the top of the 6th and the ump called the game ours on account of time. Our defense played great, very few misplays and no drops in the outfield. Their team also played great, their LCF caught 2 very long hit balls that nearly hit the fence. Great evening of softball and good for our 3rd victory in a row. Now we're 3-4.
Had a similar experience at our game last night. Back and forth until the 4th when we scored 5 to push our lead to 11-6. They came back with 2 in the bottom half and added 2 more in the 5th. I was able to drive in a run on a double and took third on the play with an error by the left-center fielder. I walked home on a sac-fly but that was our last run of the night as one of our guys "tagged" on a fly ball and was doubled off third. He left way too early (ignoring the third base coach) and was left standing at home as the throw went to third. They added one more in the 6th and 2 in the 7th to tie the game at 13. Bases loaded and 2 out and their final batter flew out to me in right-center. That's how it ended. Not good enough to win, but good enough to end our losing streak. We're now 2-5-1. It was gorgeous out there so we took batting practice and drank beer for an hour after the game.
Also, I can't find the conversation here to link, but I told the guys about FTLT's method for drinking a beer. They all laughed at the miller punchtop can gimmick, but were incredulous that it could be accomplished using only your thumbnail. I was successful on the first try. Thanks for the party trick hitman.

It's not a waste of money. It's visually very impressive. And the tension is thick. I watched half the movie curled up in a ball.
Plus Fassbender more than makes up for the annoyance of Noomi Rapace. Striger Bell and Theron also did a great job.
It's a fun movie. There are incredible scenes and shots from beginning to end.
Anvengers was better.
I really enjoyed it while I was watching it, but yeah, in hindsight it certainly had its flaws. I'll be interested in watching the director's cut when it's inevitably released. I bet a lot of stuff was left out of the theatrical version.
But man, seeing it on an IMAX screen... what a spectacle. It really was gorgeous.
Heh, yeah some of the thematic elements were a little wonky. Scott handled the queasy sexual symbolism in Alien a lot better than the psuedo-Christian allegory in Prometheus.

So, all these cave paintings have the coordinates to death planet on them. I realize at some point, the engineers tired of our sass, but the way the movie plays it, that planet's not their homeworld, just an installation (likely a WMD stockpile), so isn't giving us coordinates to us while actually being on the planet a bit like pointing a gun at an infant, and drawing an encoded map underneath his crib, on the offhand chance he'll stumble into the bear trap you've set for him in fifty years? Point being, if they're already in the "let's point them at our little death planet we've got set up 8 giggajillion miles away" state of mind, why not just smoosh us while we're still in our "primitive" stage?

I don't think I have a genre or setting out there that I ignore regardless of the talent involved. I'm interested in why that happens.

I'm more disappointed in Stern than Rome, because in a conversation between the two, I expect Stern to be the adult. Rome can be a jerk, but from reading the transcript, it does not appear to me that he was trying to be a jerk there.
I'm sure Stern gets tired of answering questions about the lottery, and maybe he was just having a bad day, but he comes across as trying to intimidate people into never asking him that question again. He may well succeed at that, but the issue won't go away just because he intimidates people into not asking him about it.
For the record, I think it's silly to think the NBA has been rigging the lottery for years. However, there are people who think it, and what Stern did won't make them stop thinking it. It's his job to deal with stuff like that, not to wish it away.

I play softball on a field where one of the light posts is about twenty feet inside the outfield fence (oh, don't worry, it's got old truck tires around it for cushioning), but I think a shade tree out there would be much better.
