In the latest exhibition for a possible better future for these teams, Esmerling Vasquez plays host to Corey Kluber.
I'm not entirely sure I'll watch much of it. I'm half-heartedly watching football, wondering if it'll take this season. I'm not sure that's what I want to do, though, because as apathetic as these Twins make me feel, they're going to be gone for six months in just a few weeks, and I'm not going to be happy about that, no matter how I feel right now.
I don't know. I just don't know. There's fun to be had in watching terrible officials take forever to make the wrong call, but bad baseball can be amusing, too. Or maybe it's time to start watching the games with playoff ramifications...
Vikings on TV, Twins on the computer/radio. I like the rare weeks that I get to do this.
Finally, the ball game started. Seemed like I was waiting all day for it
I predict an 8-run 3rd for the Vikings.
Thats funny that you think the Vikings are capable of making adjustments.
Adjustments? Hah! Still, Peterson is capable of scoring touchdowns. They need to go for two just for Greekhouse.
Just need one more run!
If the wheels are gonna come off like this, I'm gonna go help Dad pull weeds.
I'm just gonna go ahead and say it. This Saints defense is not very good when they're not injuring people.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
O Canada!
Guess I should have shown up sooner
I was getting pretty lonely in here.
Sorry about that. I had plans of chatting, but the trinket woke up from her nap way earlier than she should have.
SEND HIM!!!!
(yes!)
SEND HIM!!
(too late)
Carroll has a lot of those great attributes you like to see in a number two hitter. He gets on base a lot. He steals a lot of bases.
Did Jacksonville seriously just punt with less than 2 minutes left?
You don't lose to the Vikings by making smart decisions.Ha!
I'm kinda glad that game isn't on TV here.
And I'm extremely glad I renounced my NFL faith a couple years ago. How much did that stadium cost, again?
You don't lose to the Vikings by making smart decisions.
Who the hell is Blair Wallsh? Did Longwell retire, or something?
They drafted Walsh from Georgia this year, released Longwell. Looks like it was a good decision so far!
Hey, Twins are only down by one? Good deal. Last I checked it was 0-4.
You missed when it was 5-4.
I was fine with not knowing that- now I'm kinda sad.
Depression is all about perspective.
'zactly.
And Vikings win! Wouldn't have expected that when the Jags took the lead with 40 seconds left, but I'll take it.
I have to admit I turned the game on with 1:30 left. Pretty exciting ending. Obviously, beating Jacksonville in overtime isn't anything to brag about, but hey, Peterson looks good and our baby kicker is a hero for one week. Plus, the radio guys will be less pissy tomorrow, so that's good.
I'm the same attitude with the Cardinals here; I don't really care, but if they win, the neighbors are at least in a better mood
When'd you move to Arizona?
There are Cardinals in Arizona?!
I imagine they'll still be insufferable. Just in a different way.
the difference in the game: Vikings blocked an extra point in the first quarter.
Heh, good point. I forgot that had happened.
Did it matter? If the Jags make that extra point, do they go for two later?
aye, they did. I forgot about that.
I like seeing Escobar and Florimon in the lineup at the same time, at least for the end of this season. Florimon hasn't gotten any time other than at SS (IIRC), so I guess Gardy isn't looking at him as a utility guy?
"This is definitely a highlight-type play"
At this point, Bert is just a self-parody.
I think he has gotten worse as the season has gone on. Not pronouncing 'Deduno' correctly for 2 starts was probably the low point.
.SEND HIM!!
Oh good, I didn't want you to miss it!
shya, right.
I see Ben is still fast.
Since Rhu isn't here right now-SEND HIM!!
.
.
My goals for Joe this season:
1) finish with a BA higher than Jeter's
2) finish with a BA higher than career BA (.323?)
3) finish with the highest BA in the AL
didnt realize Jeter was having a pretty good year
mark it, dude.
when are the Tribe going to bring in Tony Sipp to blow this game wide open?
YES
Good call, dw.
Joe Mauer has 3 triples this year, all while batting as a DH
We need to get Joe another AB to go for the cycle.
SAY CHEESE!
I like Pike
Parm!!!
MELEE TIME!
is it just me, or are the Twins getting some good pitch/plate appearance numbers the last few games?
Sure seems like it, at least in the later parts of the games.
Hey, the Twins have their first lead!*
*that I'm aware of in real time, so it's the first one that counts for me
oh, geez
What? Burton doesn't do that.
And there goes that lead. Ugh.
Has Florimon every gotten a hit?
Revere!!!!
REVERE IS GOD!!!
Just watched the highlight- Ben was playing shallow in center on that one- perfectly positioned, and then made a hell of a catch. Wow.
Okay, I'm thinking a Baby Jeebus walk-off HR cycle completer would be alright...
Okay, that works too.
Go Mountie!
JOEJASONJUSTIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!MOUNTASAURUS!!!11!!11!!!!1`!!!one!!!
Sure was an exciting finish. Now I gotta try to take a nap after that.
That makes two Minnesota walkoffs today with things going over other things.
hopefully the Packers lose for a trifecta
Hah!
With the new NFL rules, it wasn't exactly a walkoff, but it was good enough. Of course, only the Vikings could open the season with a dramatic comeback win in OT that might actually lessen the expectations for the season.
Post-game -- "So, what were you looking for when you came up to bat there, Justin?"
Morneau: "That pitch!"
Wish I could have been around for this one. Glad to hear it ended well. Someone owes us some puppies. We're still on track for 80-82.
