Your list is like a snowflake.
I had a three song whiplash at my studio the other day when "Highway to Hell" segued into Julie Andrews singing "My Favorite Things" which was immediately followed up by The Pixies "Crackity Jones".

That Wye Oak song is pretty killer.
Daneeka's Ghost and Bootsy pointed me that way last year. Maybe Nibbish too?
I've not listened to any Wye Oak. I may have to remedy that tonight.
*pushes hj back into his closet and closes the door*
Actually, I was thinking about this and this. I missed your vid, but I don't think E-6 of Ghostman did.
I first heard it after multiple recommendations by those you listed (and didn't list - hj) above...bought the rest of the album after I picked up the E-6 Best of '11.
Boom, there it is.
I used to have "Broken" as #1 on my pre-game iPod playlist. Great intro.

this was a decidedly random list.
I had e-mailed myself a list a while ago... but I'm pretty sure I already used it once. Probably no need to repeat, right? I'll maybe get a different one up later.

Every year, it seems that people bring out the Festivus music earlier and earlier.
What's next? Festivus in July?
Nice. I do enjoy Tubthumper. The better song is the one after it though - "The Big Issue." Still...
1. DJ Shadow - What Does Your Soul Look Like (Part 4) - Endtroducing 2. Death Cab For Cutie - Title and Registration - Transatlanticism 3. Rumi - Atipay* 4. M.I.A. - Bad Girls - Bad Girls* 5. Spoon - Don't You Evah - Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga T. Kelly Clarkson - Since U Been Gone - Breakaway
B. Frank Ocean - Pyramids - channel ORANGE*
3 - Garageband find. I always find myself enamored with it when I'm listening to it, only to forget about it for another few months until my 'Goodnight' play list brings it back to the forefront.
4 - After disliking MAYA, I'm pretty pumped for whatever M.I.A. ends up putting out next. If you haven't seen the music video, take the next five minutes and do so now.
B - I picked up the CD for $5 on one of Amazon's lightning deals. Very solid disc - maybe not quite as revolutionary as many outlets are making it out to be (a label which seems to have a lot to do with the accompanying tumblr post he made, which I have thoughts about that I won't expand upon here), but very solid nonetheless. 'Pyramids' is the obvious centerpiece of the album, and it's epic in all the best ways.
B
i agree with all these statements. "sweet life" and "pyramid" are the two stand out tracks for me on a very solid album.
4. Five minutes is not enough. At least one repeat each time you turn it on.
Still not sure what I'll think of her going forward. Arular and Kala did a lot for me, but Maya did a lot in the other direction, as did her Madonna collab.
B. After getting over my disappointment that Nostalgia, Ultra will never be physically released, I should probably try out his official album. He was the best thing on that Ye-Z album.
As I've tied the two in my head, I'll mention that I recently bought the Weeknd's Trilogy from Target for $11. Three CDs, all three albums plus a bonus track for each. Great packaging. Supposedly remastered, but I didn't notice any differences on the House of Balloons disc, the one where I thought I might.
He was the best thing on that Ye-Z album.
SERIOUSLY. His hook on "No Church In the Wild" is fantastic - the rapping on same song makes me want to delete. "Niggas in Paris" is pretty awesome, though, no Frank required.
I haven't been real interested in a lot of Abel's non-House of Balloons output, truth be told. I really love that album - even though half the songs feel like they could be trimmed a bit, but with the exception of a song here and there, Thursday and Echoes of Silence just sort of sat there.
I'm mostly with you on the Weeknd, but even then, House of Balloons plus two bonus discs of variable quality for $11!

It was all (nearly) instrumental there until Will Oldham showed up.
After owning Kind of Blue for about 10 years, I went out and picked up E.S.P., Miles Ahead and Sketches of Spain last spring. I don't know why it took me that long to get more Davis - I love Blue - but I do know that I'm glad I did. All three albums are great in their own way.
I'm just starting out. That three-disc set I picked up from Cheapo is my first taste.
Early thoughts: prefer Coltrane.
Love Sketches of Spain.
Next you should get Bitches Brew. The best of his "rock" albums.
I agree with bS, you deserve all 5...I just realized how spot-on this is.
The Penguin Guide to Jazz gave Bitches Brew a four-star rating (out of four stars), describing the recording as "one of the most remarkable creative statements of the last half-century, in any artistic form. It is also profoundly flawed, a gigantic torso of burstingly noisy music that absolutely refuses to resolve itself under any recognized guise."
