BINGHAMTON 8, NEW BRITAIN 3 IN NEW BRITAIN
Batting stars: Daniel Ortiz was 3-for-4 two doubles and scored once. Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with a double.
Pitching stars: None.
Opposition stars: Josh Rodriguez was 3-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once and driving in two. Allan Dykstra was 2-for-4 with a walk, scoring once and driving in two. Darrell Ceciliani was 2-for-4 and scored twice.
Key inning: The fourth. The Mets trailed 2-0. A walk and two singles loaded the bases with none out. A sacrifice fly and an error tied the score. RBI singles by Wilfredo Tovar and Rodriguez put Binghamton ahead 4-2. The runs came off Alex Meyer, who struck out seven in 6.2 innings but gave up five runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks.
LAKELAND 4, FORT MYERS 1 IN LAKELAND
Batting star: Matt Koch was 2-for-4 with a triple.
Pitching stars: Taylor Rogers pitched five innings, giving up one run despite nine hits and a walk. Zach Jones struck out two in a perfect inning.
Opposition stars: Jeff Ferrell pitched six innings, allowing an unearned run on five hits and a walk. Dixon Machado was 3-for-5 with an RBI. Steven Moya was 3-for-5 and scored once.
Key inning: The sixth. The score was tied at one. Brandon Loy led off with a walk, was bunted to second, and scored on a single by Machado. A force out made Jeff McVaney the baserunner. McVaney stole second and scored on an Aaron Westlake double to make the score 3-1. The runs came off Adrian Salcedo, who pitched two innings and gave up three runs (two earned) on four hits and a walk.
BELOIT 7, CEDAR RAPIDS 6 IN BELOIT
Batting stars: Travis Harrison was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk and was hit by a pitch, scoring once. J. D. Williams was 0-for-1 with three walks and an RBI.
Pitching stars: Josue Montanez retired all five batters he faced, striking out two. Manuel Soliman gave up one hit in a scoreless inning.
Opposition stars: Nick Rickles was 2-for-4 with a pair of two-run homers. Chris Bostick was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one. John Wooten was 2-for-4 and scored once.
Key inning: The sixth. The Kernels had cut a 5-1 deficit to 5-3. With one out in the sixth, Bostick walked and Rickles hit a two-run homer. The Kernels scored two in the ninth to cut the lead to 7-6 but did not get the tying run on base.
