After thinking way too hard about things, and then completely putting it aside. My Summer mix CD finally came together this week. Actually 2 CDs because there was some Noisy, Harsh, and "Cursive" music that I really wanted for myself in the van. So that freed me up to not worry about cutting the good stuff that only I would like in favor of special requests from EAR, HPR, and the XXRs to keep their fave songs on, even if I don't like. Thanks to those here that provided suggestions. Final results after the break.

Yeah, they're stupid names, but at least my wife won't easily put in Kanye West violating the second commandment over and over and over and over and over again.
And I streamed the new F--- Buttons album from Pitchfork. I believe that they may be missing Andrew Weatherall's production. Nothing grabbed me and it left me flat. Including "The Red Wing" above is based more on my hoping that I'll turn around on it due to their prior work.

That Matchbox 20 entry really ruined a pretty nice list.

That Soul Asylum is among the CDs I once owned that mysteriously disappeared from my dorm room in college.
Are you accusing Will? He is a pirate you know.
I wasn't, but now that you mention it....
Argh
I don't steal, I plunder.

So, you come from the land down under?
Yeah, they’re stupid names, but at least my wife won’t easily put in Kanye West violating the second commandment over and over and over and over and over again.
I know it's still early, but this is definitely my favorite sentence I've read today. (Although I might have first read "second commandment" as "second amendment," but that's what a few weeks of sleep deprivation will do. It was pretty amusing trying to figure out how Kanye could violate the second amendment with his lyrics.)
You weren't the only one. Then I felt bad that I had to pause to recall what the second commandment is...church on Sunday - hmm, no...love your neighbor, crap. Uhm...Kanye....Oh, Duh. Name in vain - sheesh.
Thanks!
And it's really more about the XXRs than my wife.
My countdown has ended. See which album came out #1 then sneer derisively!
I don't have my MP3 player with me, so I guess it would be appropriate to just list my ten favorite songs.
10.Blood, Sex & Booze--Green Day
9. Don't Stop Me Now--Queen
8. On the Radio--Regina Spektor
7. Norwegian Wood--The Beatles
6. Papillon--Rilo Kiley

9. The Dillinger Escape Plan - When Acting As a Wave - Ire Works
T. My Morning Jacket - Gideon - Z
2. Found this CD at a pawn shop for a buck. Solid purchase.
4. I find myself enjoying this CD quite a bit. I enjoyed their first two, but this one feels like "Vampire Weekend, only better".
I'm very much enjoying The Haxan Cloak right now.
Yeah, I find myself going back to it a great deal.
Linds hates it. She says it sounds like the soundtrack to a horror movie. I find it to feel like the soundtrack to a huge lightless amphitheater (the name of the album is very apt).
I think if anyone ever has a Demi Lovato entry, it deserves a note.
Probably true.
I don't know exactly why that particular song has grabbed me. I don't know what is different about it from the normal Top 40 pop that I dislike (hell, I don't really know if there is anything different about it). It has been filling that "the one guilty pleasure pop song" void at the moment.
Re: 2. Oh, I have that CD. Just imported it when you reminded me.
If you dig it, you'll probably like DJ Spooky's Songs of a Dead Dreamer and Syntehtic Fury and likely Riddim Warfare. After that, I lost track as his results sagged.
WeTM's 3 albums are highly recommended in a similar style without all the annoying theory, although the first was too languid for my tastes. So is Lloop's solo album Bulbbs. I'd probably rank them
Sub Dub's Dancehall Malfunction has really high peaks and really low valleys, but Raz Mesinai has done some great stuff after Sub Dub, particularly the Final Warning EP.
The version of Soul Slinger's "Abducted" on Necropolis awesome. His album Don't Believe is uneven, and I never listened to anything else.
Never got into Byzar, for some reason.
I really like "Byzar Prologue" (a lot more than the Byzar track, itself, actually). I'll have to check out those two you recommended.
I'm finding a liking for Ambient Dub ever since immersing myself in Drawn and Quartered. Nothing quite on that level, but I'll have to check out We, in that case.
What Drawn & Quartered? Two albums out under that title over last three years:
Oneohtrix Point Never
Deadbeat
Deadbeat
I was hoping the new Shallow Gravy track at the end of the latest Venture Bros. was online ("Die!arrhea"?), but doesn't look like it.
I agree with AMR about the new Fuck Buttons album. I'll give it another chance, but that's based on how good Tarot Sport was more than anything.
Oceans - Indian Jewelry - Totaled
Wolf - Ben Klock - Fünf
I Got You - Stone Temple Pilots - No. 4
Crashed - Mika Vainio - Life (...It Eats You Up)
Computer Age - Neil Young - Trans
Twist - Korn - Life is Peachy
Plays Wagner 6 - Indignant Senility - Plays Wagner
Send the Pain Below - Chevelle - Wonder What's Next
Olympians - Fuck Buttons - Tarot Sport
Strange Desire - Black Keys - Magic Potion
Been listening to Roomrunner - Ideal Cities recently. Recommended if you sometimes wish that more bands today sounded like Nirvana.
This makes me sad. I was really hoping for something with the heft of "Surf Solar" or "Olympians". Then again, Tarot Sport is probably a top 30 album for me, so just about anything was likely to be a step down.
Maybe you should just find out what Weatherall's doing next. He got similar results from britrock on Primal Scream's Screamadelica. (15 years apart, and I can only think of like 8 things he did in between, but whatever.)

*a current Twins player’s walk up music. I think.
**Not sure who this is, but she sounds a bit like Yael Naim or Feist…I think.
***Tasty
Any idea which player uses that walk up?
Sorry - thought I'd corrected & responded: Willinghammer. And that was for #10, not #1...that first asterisk was a typo.
I don't have time for a SpookySampler today (or at least not until much later), but I'm streaming the Phosphorescent album Muchacho, and oh man, am I in love. Not sure if they've ever been mentioned around here.
If "Song For Zula" isn't my favorite song of the year, it's quite certainly in the top three.
Yeah, that and the opening to "The Quotidian Beasts" are what's grabbing me most so far through one listen.

I only put a few things onto it so far:
Vin Scully's call of the 9th inning of Koufax's perfect game.
Abbot & Costello's "Who's on First"
Some version of "Take Me Out to the Ball Game"
(My wife put on some other things.)
