CAGUAS 6, PONCE 5 IN PONCE (13 INNINGS)
Twins: Ryan O'Rourke (Caguas) pitched one inning, giving up one run on two hits. Josue Montanez (Ponce) pitched two innings, giving up one run on one hit and one walk.
Caguas: Jamie Ortiz was 3-for-6 with a double and three RBIs. Jorge Padilla was 3-for-7 with a double, scoring once and driving in one. John Brownell pitched six innings, giving up one run on two hits and one walk with five strikeouts.
Ponce: Jordan Lennerton (Detroit) was 2-for-4 with a home run, his second. Jan Vazquez (Dodgers) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once. Pete Parise struck out four in two shutout innings, allowing no hits and one walk.
The game: Caguas scored one in the seventh to take a 5-1 lead. Ponce scored runs in the seventh on a passed ball, a ground out, and an error, cutting the lead to 5-4. Geraldo Valentin singled in a run in the eighth to tie the score. There was no more scoring until the thirteenth, when Roberto Pena (Houston) scored from first on a two-out double by Jorge Padilla. Ponce went down in order in the bottom of the inning.
MAYAGUEZ 4, SANTURCE 2 IN SANTURCE (11 INNINGS)
Twins: Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-5. Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 1-for-5 with a run.
Mayaguez: Luis Figueroa was 2-for-3 with a walk and a double, driving in three. Matt Magill (Dodgers) pitched five innings, giving up two runs on three hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Santurce: Jonathan Singleton (Houston) was 2-for-4 with a walk and a double, scoring once. James Houser pitched five innings, allowing two runs on two hits and three walks with four strikeouts.
The game: Mayaguez scored two in the second and Santurce got two in the fourth. There things stood until the eleventh, when Figueroa delivered a two-out two-run single. Santurce loaded the bases with three two-out walks in the bottom of the eleventh. They actually drew four walks in the inning, but the first was erased by a double play.
