More close games, one decided in extra innings.  A pair of homers carries Licey.

ESCOGIDO 4, CIBAO 3 IN CIBAO

Twins:  Deibinson Romero (Escogido) was 0-for-3.  Jorge Polanco (Escogido) walked in his only plate appearance.

Escogido:  Gregory Polanco (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-3 with a walk and two RBIs.  Jason Bergmann struck out three in 3.1 scoreless innings, giving up one hit and two walks.

Cibao:  Alexi Casilla was 2-for-5 with a run.

The game:  Four singles, a walk, and an error led to a four-run fifth for Escogido, putting the team ahead 4-2.  Cibao got a run in the ninth but did not get the tying run past first base.

ESTE 3, LICEY 2 IN LICEY

Este:  Matt Hague (Pittsburgh) was 2-for-4 with a double.  Raul Valdes (Houston) pitched seven innings, giving up one run on five hits and no walks.

Licey:  Jordany Valdespin (Mets) hit a pinch-hit home run.

The game:  Jim Adduci (Texas) and Ricardo Nanita each hit a solo home run in the fourth to give Este a 3-0 lead.  Licey got one in the fourth and one in the eighth but did not get the tying run past first base.

ORIENTE 5, AGUILAS 4 IN ORIENTE (10 INNINGS)

Aguilas:  Rafael Ynoa was 3-for-5 with two doubles, scoring once and driving in one.  Zoilo Almonte (Yankees) was 3-for-5 with a double and an RBI.  Mike Bianucci (Texas) was 2-for-4 with a double.

Oriente:  Junior Lake (Cubs) was 3-for-5 with a home run, his second.  Alex Valdez was 2-for-4 with a walk and a home run (his fourth), scoring twice.  Alfredo Marte (Arizona) was 2-for-5 with two RBIs.

The game:  Aguilas scored two in the third to tie the score at two.  Valdez homered to make it 3-2 in the fifth, but Almonte hit an RBI double in the sixth to tie it up again.  A wild pitch scored a run for Aguilas in the top of the tenth to go ahead 4-3.  In the bottom of the tenth, Marte hit a two-run single to win the game.
