Juan Silva's two-run homer lifts Caguas to a game one victory.

CAGUAS 5, MAYAGUEZ 1 IN CAGUAS

Twins:  Eddie Rosario (Mayaguez) was 1-for-4 with a double.  Kennys Vargas (Mayaguez) was 2-for-4 with a run.  Daniel Ortiz (Mayaguez) was 0-for-4.

Mayaguez:  Randy Ruiz was 2-for-4.

Caguas:  Ramon Castro was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI.  Juan Silva (Cincinnati) was 1-for-2 with a two-run homer, his second.  Efrain Nieves (Toronto) pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, allowing an unearned run on seven hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

The game:  Luis Mateo (St. Louis) doubled in a run in the third to open the scoring for Caguas.  In the fourth, a pair of singles and an error plated a run for Mayaguez to tie it 1-1.  Silva's two-run homer in the fifth put Caguas ahead 3-1.  Caguas added two more in the sixth on an RBI single by Neftali Soto (Cincinnati) and a sacrifice fly.  Mayaguez could not get the tying run past the on-deck circle.
