I feel like we've done it before. I'm sure we've done it before. But we'll probably talk about Christmas music again too, right? So Halloween music it is! What's your 5 favorite Halloween or Halloween-related (monsters, ghosts, the devil, candy, etc.) songs?
Of the top of my head:
1. Werewolves of London - Warron Zevon
2. A Girl, A Boy, And A Graveyard - Jeremy Messersmith
3. The Curse - Josh Ritter
4. Wolf Like Me - TV On The Radio
5. Season Of The Witch - Donovan
Happy JB release day, all!
Jungle Brothers?
Justin Bieber?
Johann Brahms?
Oh, and Karin Dreijer of the Knife released her second "solo" album as Fever Ray.
I had really assumed from her interviews that the album (and the three non-album singles) constituted a one-off project.
I love coat-switch season! So many surprises!
Used kleenex... used kleenex... piece of paper towel used as a kleenex...
...set of keys I hadn't seen since March (in Wife's coat. Maybe. Or bag somewhere.)
A lot of reciepts, sometimes some cash, though.
And to the guys who recommended Waxahatchee's album Out in the Storm? (By which I mean nibs and Zack.) Turns out you're totally right--I've been listening all week and I love it so much.
There's a song midway through the album that for some reason brings to mind the old Belly song "Thief," so I had to put that one on for a while this morning.
Obviously:
(I saw Bobby “Boris” Pickett live in the Eighties. I don’t remember anything he sang at the show other than that one.)
Also, this gem:

Ugh, whatever. I just don't care about theme music. Now get off my lawn.
Saw Dylan on Wednesday. Wasn't too excited about the whole thing but I have a friend who is a huge fan and I knew he wouldn't go if I didn't. Plus he paid for the $110 ticket -- I paid for dinner/parking.
So of course Dylan blew me away. Probably best show I've seen in 35 some years of Dylan shows. His voice was actually decent, he was lively, the band was tight of course. As is usual these days, some of the more famous songs get re-arranged, which is jarring at first but the version of It Ain't Me Babe and Tangled Up in Blue were amazing. I'd love to hear studio recordings of a good live recording of those versions. My friend swears that there were two completely different versions in the Tangled Up in Blue performance.
Anyway, kudos Bob. Still (finally?) nailing at age 76.
I've seen him a couple times--first time was back in 2003, last time was just a couple years ago. I don't mind his voice either way, but I've been impressed with his backing band, and I think it's impressive that someone with his catalog is willing to throw in a couple of covers in his show.
I was about to ask if your most recent time was when he was touring with Mark Knopfler, but then I realized that 2012 is more than “just a couple years ago” now. That was quite a day – saw Springsteen, Dylan, & Knopfler within twelve hours. Plus the (now former) POTUS.
It actually was 2012, my time reference was off. Had some relatives in town that were interested in seeing Knopfler, less so Dylan, though I enjoyed both. I don't remember Springsteen or any POTUS sightings, but I do believe that then-Secretary Clinton was in attendance a couple sections over from us.
