Minor Details: Games of June 12

Joe Mauer has a rough start in his rehab assignment.  Chattanooga is looking out for some offense.  Clark Beeker and Randy Dobnak both pitch very well in wins.  A big game for Wilfri Castro.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 5, ROCHESTER 2 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Billy McKinney hit a three-run homer in the first inning and that was all the RailRiders needed.  Back-to-back fourth-inning homers by Cameron Rupp and Taylor Motter cut the margin to 4-2, but that was as good as it got for the Red Wings.

Nick Gordon was 2-for-3 and was batting .300.  It was the first home run of the season for both Rupp and Motter.  Joe Mauer got off to a slow start in his rehab assignment, going 0-for-3 as the DH.

Aaron Slegers pitched a six-inning complete game, giving up five runs (two earned) on seven hits and two walks and striking out four.

SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE 2, ROCHESTER 0 IN SCRANTON/WILKES-BARRE (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Brandon Drury hit a two-run triple in the sixth for all the runs of the game.  The Red Wings had just three hits.

Willians Astudillo was 2-for-3.  Wynston Sawyer was 0-for-2 with a walk and is batting .315.  Joe Mauer was again 0-for-3, making him 0-for-6 for the day.

It was a bullpen game for Rochester.  Gabriel Moya started and struck out four in three shutout innings, giving up two hits.  His ERA is 1.85.  Tyler Duffey pitched two shutout innings, giving up two hits and striking out one.  His ERA is 1.29.

MONTGOMERY 2, CHATTANOOGA 1 IN MONTGOMERY

The Biscuits scored the lead run in the fifth on three walks and a sacrifice fly.  The Lookouts had just one hit after the fourth and only three hits in the game, all singles.

It was a bullpen game for Chattanooga.  Todd Van Steensel started and pitched 2.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk, striking out two.  His ERA is 1.75.  Paco Rodriguez struck out three in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two walks.  Ryne Harper pitched two perfect innings, striking out one.  His ERA is 2.74.

FORT MYERS 3, PALM BEACH 0 IN PALM BEACH

Jaylin Davis singled home a run in the third and Luis Arraez doubled home two in the seventh.  Clark Beeker and Andrew Vasquez shut down the Cardinals.

Travis Blankenhorn was 3-for-4.  Jimmy Kerrigan was 2-for-4.  Brandon Lopez was 2-for-4.

Beeker pitched 7.2 scoreless innings, giving up six hits and a walk and striking out three.  Vasquez pitched 1.1 scoreless innings, striking out all four men he faced.  His ERA is 1.38 with 37 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.

CEDAR RAPIDS 7, KANE COUNTY 0 IN KANE COUNTY

Akil Baddoo led off the game with a home run and Royce Lewis and Alex Kirilloff followed with back-to-back doubles, making it 2-0 after one.  The Cougars had eleven hits but did not score and had only five at-bats with men in scoring position.  Kernel pitchers did not allow a walk, and in fact did not even get to a three-ball count for the entire game.

Robby Rinn was 4-for-5 with a double and scored twice.  He is batting .327.  Jacob Pearson was 3-for-5 with two doubles and scored twice.  Andrew Bechtold was 2-for-4.  Baddoo was 2-for-5 with a double and his sixth home run.  Lewis was 2-for-5 with a double.

Randy Dobnak pitched eight shutout innings, giving up ten hits but no walks and striking out two.  Jose Martinez pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.

DSL TWINS 5, DSL PHILLIES RED 3 AT PHILLIES RED

The Twins scored in the seventh to make it 4-0.  The margin was cut to 4-3 through eight, but Luis Milla doubled home an insurance run in the ninth.

Wilfri Castro was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk and is batting .400.

Jose Bermudez struck out five in four shutout innings, giving up two hits and no walks.  His ERA is 1.50 with a WHIP of 0.50.  He has struck out seven and walked none in six innings.  That may not sound like much, but a DSL pitcher who has no walks in six innings is unusual.
