Minor Details: Games of August 29

Zander Weil and A-Stud lead the Red Wings.  The threat of Hurricane Dorian continues to scramble minor league schedules.

ROCHESTER 7, BUFFALO 6 IN ROCHESTER

Zander Weil hit a two-run homer in the eighth that produced the tying and go-ahead runs.  Alejandro De Aza was 3-for-4 with a triple, a walk, and two runs.  He is batting .357.  Tomas Telis was 3-for-5.  He is batting .322.  Willians Astudillo was 2-for-4 with a three-run homer, his fifth.  He is batting .432.  Ronald Torreyes was 2-for-5.  He is batting .245.  Ian Miller was 2-for-5.  He is batting .233.  Weil was 1-for-5 and the home run was his twenty-third.  He is batting .258.  Lewis Thorpe struck out six in three innings, giving up one run on two hits and no walks.  His ERA is 4.58.  Fernando Romero struck out two in two perfect innings.  His ERA is 4.53.  The Red Wings are 68-68, in fourth place, five games back.  They have been eliminated from the playoffs.

MONTGOMERY 5, PENSACOLA 2 IN MONTGOMERY

The Biscuits scored three in the eighth to break a 2-2 tie.  Trevor Larnach was 3-for-5 with a home run, his seventh.  He is batting .285.  Ryan Costello was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  He is batting .226.  Alex Kirilloff was 2-for-4 with a double and a walk.  He is bating .283.  Travis Blankenhorn was 2-for-5.  He is batting .272.  Jhoan Duran struck out six in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and a walk.  His ERA is 4.86.  Tom Hackimer pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.  His ERA is 3.35.  The Blue Wahoos are 36-29, in third place, four games back.  Their elimination number is one.  However, Biloxi continues to lead the division by two games.  If the Shuckers win the second half, Pensacola will qualify for the playoffs due to having the second-best overall record in the division.

DUNEDIN 3, FORT MYERS 0 IN DUNEDIN

The Blue Jays scored all of their runs in the sixth, with two of them coming on a double by Demi Orimoloye.  The Miracle had just three hits.  Yennier Cano pitched 2.1 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and a walk and striking out two.  His ERA is 2.77.  Tyler Watson pitched a perfect inning and struck out one.  His ERA is 3.62.  The Miracle is 35-32, in fourth place, eleven games back.  They have been eliminated in the second half, but qualified for the playoffs by winning the first half.  That doesn't matter much now, though, as the remainder of the Florida State League season, including the playoffs, has been suspended due to the threat of Hurricane Dorian.  The Miracle ends with a record of 74-59, which is second-best in its division, seven games behind Charlotte.

QUAD CITIES 3, CEDAR RAPIDS 2 IN CEDAR RAPIDS

The River Bandits scored all of their runs in the first inning.  Gabe Snyder was 2-for-3 with two home runs (his seventeenth and eighteenth) and a walk.  He is batting .259.  Austin Schulfer struck out three in two shutout innings, giving up one hit.  His ERA is 4.00.  Rickey Ramirez pitched two shutout innings, giving up one hit and striking out one.  His ERA is 2.59.  The Kernels are 35-31, in fourth place, seven games back.  They have been eliminated in the second half, but will be in the place due to finishing second in the first half.
