Maeda
v
Castillo
The Twins scored five, ten, and again five runs versus the lowly A's. Nice signs for the batters but it's the A's. The Mariners' staff is actually better than average (4.2 runs/game versus average of 4.6 runs/game). So the Twins scoring six and then ten runs is nice to see. Tonight will be the real test of this series with Castillo and his 2.96 ERA / 3.92 FIP. He's really good.
Buxton with another day off so Wallner gets the DH start.
coup de circuit!
Julien is growing on me. All I saw him do at first was make errors at 2b, but now... I'm starting to be okay with him.
He was a BB superman in the minors, wasnt he? I'm waiting for that to turn on soon
As he draws two BB so far tonight...
.285/.437/.487 in the minors. 240 walks versus 311 strikeouts across 1192 plate appearances. That's a 20% walk rate. Julien isn't going to maintain that rate with the Twins but it's very good. Mauer averaged 11.8% in MLB.
einen Homerun!
Looks like the no-shift rules are starting to help Kepler...
I mean, they've never actually been allowed to post fielders in the stands.
Per discussion last night, the Savannah Bananas do!
Randy Bass discussion for bjhess

Twins immortal Randy Bass.
Kenta's splitter looking absolutely filthy.
cruising so far.
SOOOO nice to see the doppelganger Kenta is gone
Julien reaches base again. Yawn...
Ouch - guess Kirilloff left it all in the game yesterday, 'cause he's got nothing going tonight at the plate
F*^% a Griffin Jax, man. He’d better be working mentally on a pretty nice gift for Maeda.
Well Kenta coulda done that!
Another QS in danger of a L
TWINS BASEBALL!!!
Credit where it’s due … nice inning by Emilio there.
Kirilloff takes off the sombrero and jacks a donger.
Seems like an auspicious spot for a debuting pitcher to come in and make that mistake. Did commentary mention anything about Sweet getting the call there?
Gang, I believe I just time traveled because I briefly was getting mentally excited for Joe Nathan coming in.
Kirilloff going for sub-Cuddyer defense at first
He made it entirely too interesting, but that’ll do. Plus, the Guardians lost and everything.
Fun fact. Jarred Kelenic - 6th overall pick in the 2018 draft - was part of the Cano to the Mets trade that same year. Also included in the trade was our old friend
(among others).
Never in doubt, according to my cat.
