Though it's officially winter, things will be brighter from today.

Estrellas scored three in the fourth to defeat the Toros 6-2. Miguel Sano was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs. Fernando Tatis, Jr. was 2-for-4 with a double. Starter Austin Davis (1-1) got the win. He struck out seven in five innings, giving up one run on four hits and three walks.
Margarita scored six in the first to defeat Caribes 8-3. Willians Astudillo was 2-for-4. Jose Azocar was 3-for-4. Kevin Vicuna was 2-for-4. Starter Harold Arauz (0-3) took the loss, allowing six unearned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in one inning.
It's a sad pothole in the holiday road here at the Runner household(s) -- tonight's Beer Choir at the nearby brewery was cancelled. The friend of mine who leads it has the flu. I'm sure we'll have an outing in January instead, but still, we had our hearts set on hoarse voices tomorrow morning.
All it does is make the Schadenfreude that much sweeter.
I will root for Shohei at least once
$1M for the next 15 years and the rest deferred out to 2065.
This one is a regular contract, albeit with a large signing bonus. Zero deferred money and two opt outs somewhere.
Surprised he didnt go $500k and deferred to 2075

The Detroit Pistons are 2-26 this season and have lost 25 games in a row. Their last win was Oct 28!
(Thats even stinkier than the Wolves. Their longest losing steak in franchise history is 16 games.)
Then I look at the standings and see San Antonio has only 4 wins. They have a franchise altering player and Pop is still their coach. Woooooof.
and check out that starting lineup for the Jazz from last night. Yikes!
I'm not a massive basketball fan by any stretch, but I checked the Spurs' roster and the only other person besides Wemby I've ever heard of is Doug McDermott- and that's because he went to Creighton. I honestly didn't know he was in the NBA.
I imagine the Tank for Wemby worked well, seeing as they have him, and I don't know if there are many coaches out there I'd trust to fix that roster back up to where it's competitive over Pop.
Indeed.
Spurs: will be fine
Pistons: Will probably be the new Wolves
Pop hasn't been doing much with what he does have lately though.
Victor: “Guys I’m 7’4 and right under the basket pass me the ball!”
I don't expect anything from him, but it's always nice to welcome back old friends.
Mrs Runner has been watching a slew of Hallmark-y Christmas movies, and the current one is a doozy. It's all I can do to bite my tongue and avoid the naughty list. So full of tropes and bad acting, lots of exposition and fake laughter and cheer. MST3K-worthy

Especially brighter when you sign the best free agent pitcher.

Come to think of it, I could see him retiring at any minute, so the Spurs may be in a bad place as well.
The last time he had the top pick, it was for Timmy. That worked out ok.
Of course, he had the Admiral coming back from a lost season....
Old friends alert:
Twins, Niko Goodrum Agree To Minor League Deal
