Sorry to start the day on a down note, but Mom A has taken a turn for the worse. Yesterday she stopped eating or drinking anything, so unless God decides to work a miracle (which, of course, He can), this will only end one way, and the only question is how long it will take. But she has lived a good, long life, and she has a strong faith in Jesus Christ, so I know she'll be all right. Plus, she has talked for some time about how much she misses Dad, so that promises to be a wonderful reunion. She'll get to see her father, who died when she was three, and that will be awesome, too. And of course, she will see the glory of heaven, which I'm sure is beyond our ability to understand while we're on earth.
Your prayers continue to be appreciated.
❤️
Sorry to hear about your mother's condition, still thinking about and praying for her.
She remains in our prayers. Best to you and her.
My wife lost her mother last year about this time. What I learned from that is that you can prepare for a loved one's death, but no one is ever ready for it to happen.
Peace and love and comfort with you and your family during this time.
She is blessed to have a long life and a family who loves her. Our thoughts are with the two of you.
She, and you, remain in my prayers. May you both feel the sustenance of grace and peace.
She and you remain in my thoughts.
Thank you, everyone. Mom does not appear to be in any pain, and does not appear to be struggling at this time, so I am very grateful for that.
I'm glad you have peace thru all of this - give yourself the counsel and comfort no doubt you give to others thru this journey.
Cheap, how was St Paul? Did you run into Arlig? We actually beat them for the first time last night.
We played pretty well, winning our first two and losing on the last shot of game 3 to get eliminated. We did not run into Arlig, although all three teams we played were from St. Paul. Its a nice club and the ice was decent, but from what I understand the Duluth curling club screwed over both SPCC and Four Seasons this weekend by deciding to have a spiel when they normally wouldn't, so the Four Seasons spiel only had 5 teams registered, so they cancelled and those five teams came down to the International. As a result, this spiel felt pretty unorganized, which is a bummer considering it was the most expensive spiel I've ever been to by far. Plus the hospitality was very lacking. There was an older guy that was very clearly upset that we were there until they made us leave at midnight. Friday was a little better, but Saturday he came to our table at 11 and gruffly indicated we'd better have our uber to pick us up by midnight. I'm not sure I'll spiel at that club again, to be honest.
On a more positive note, my mom and step dad were able to come down to watch our 1:30 draw, so that was nice.
That's a bummer.
You'll have to come to Chaska. I've never curled anywhere else but they have a good reputation. It's the training ice for the Olympic hopefuls.
I've got Chaska and Frogtown on my list of MN clubs I'd like to get to. We're doing the Wauwatosa men's in a couple weeks and out of the clubs I've been to, it is the gold standard in making sure you have a good time. The ice is bad, but the hospitality is top notch.
One of our competitors was hit with a major ransomware attack last week. The word is that the hackers were state-sponsored and the FBI is actively involved in the investigation. Considering the warnings that have been coming from federal law enforcement, I'm guessing it was China. Until recently, my first guess would have been Russia.
Day game alert. Twins vs. Yankees at 12:05 pm CT on the MLB Network.
Just turned it on. Going about as well as expected.
Twins acquire Manuel Margot. A right-handed hitter that can play center. Feels like the team hopes for him to be this season's center fielder backup.
Looks like the Dodgers are throwing in an infield "prospect" and cash.
Considering Margot once lost playing time in the Friars’ center field to Wil Myers, who I wouldn’t exactly describe as Cody Bellinger, I sure hope the front office isn’t counting on him for much.
Also, never trust a man with two first names…
OAA had him at +4 in RF and -1 in CF. 2022 was similar (+1 in CF versus -1 in RF) while 2021 he was well above average at +3 in CF and +10 in RF plus another +5 in LF. Seems like a reasonable backup at this point.
Las Vegas airport is one of the saddest
I feel like I've mentioned this here before, but I was enjoying a brew before my flight there once and there was a very intoxicated young lady sitting next me. Naturally, she was very chatty. Eventually I found out her flight was leaving in about 10 minutes on another end of the airport, so I convinced her to leave and helped rush her to the gate. Got her there just in time and politely refused her attempt to make out. Vegas, baby!
