The fam got to check out two things I said could not be properly explained, only experienced: a full solar eclipse and City Museum.

Oh man -- City Museum.
Been there a good handful of times. At first, I thought it was an adventurous, fun place to explore with kids. Last time I went it was hot and the A/C wasn't working and I realized I was too old to keep up with my little ones. It was also ridiculously crowded. I think I'm good for a while.
Is this something like Meow Wolf?
nope - google it!
It's a cross between Willie Wonka and a Tim Burton movie.
We went to St. Louis last week and the city museum did not go well for us. Having a 10-year-old with ADHD and anxiety issues is not conducive to that environment. Also, I found out from going on the ferris wheel at Union Station that I do not mix well with heights.

So you didn't go up the Arch??
I was quite content with the model of the keystone that had live cameras in the museum. It was also really windy that day so it would have been bad. The museum was excellent, though.
I really like the revamped museum -- reminded me of Churchill War Rooms, what with all the interactive multimedia involved.
Wind isn't doing anything to the Arch. It's not going anywhere. The Arch is designed to sway up to 18 inches, but a 50 MPH wind only moves it 1.5 inches
Intellectually I know it isn't going anywhere, but if I felt any sway I'd be done. It was windy the day before when we went on the ferris wheel and that was... not fun.
Yeah, we went Sunday and the pre-eclipse crowd was there so it was about 3-4x more people than the last time we went which was pretty crazy. I'd taken Rick last summer, so we were used to it, but the wife couldn't take it initially. She had originally been trying to follow and keep track of Rick the whole time. I got texts like "I can't take it! He keeps disappearing and popping up in a completely different place a minute later!" I tried to explain you have to just find a static spot to park yourself in and let go. Once she got to that point she said she became much calmer and enjoyed the place. You can't control the chaos there. You just have to embrace it.
Also, we've spent about 12 hours there in total now, and I was still coming across whole new, giant swaths of the place I didn't know existed. Like I found the caves only an hour or so before we left. We didn't even touch the 2nd and 4th floors this time and we were there all day.
Great for (most) kids. Insane for parents.
Last time we went, we just both picked an exit to stand by.
HJ,
I just sent your LTE to my wife and she knew right away you were taking about City Museum.
She had the same experience as your wife. The kids literally disappeared in the ceiling!
Haha, exactly.
The kids literally disappeared in the ceiling!
Or into the floor. But it's when they somehow run up behind you 45 seconds later that started breaking her brain.
The guy in line in front of me at the big slide was bleeding from the head...
Their insurance premiums must be something.

I sent a message to one of your email accounts, but perhaps not one you're checking. This was your DJ week, but why don't we push it to next week.
Sorry about that, next week will be fine and I will be ready. Does the DJ week start on Sunday or Monday?
So UCONN sorta dismantled the men's tournament? TIL that their offensive architect is…Bill Murray's son. Woah!
IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER! IT JUST DOESN'T MATTER!
ahahaha
Twenty years ago this week I took up residence inside a Yugoslavian-designed & constructed hydroelectric dam. Definitely the most unusual place I’ve ever “lived” for more than a night or two.
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us,
God save Naz Reid!
Wonder if DPW caught the changing of the guard center?
Yup, saw it last Monday. While they may not eventually remember much, the kids won't be able to say we didn't bring them to everything.
This is kinda where we are with Kid2. She's been abroad twice before her 4th birthday. Chances she remembers much is pretty low, but we'll remember and we have the pictures.
We took our kids to see the 2017 total solar eclipse. Our younger one was 3, so he doesn't remember it at all. The older one was 6, but all he remembers is eating Oreos into the shape of the Sun as eclipse progressed.
Rumor has it there may be a Naz Reid towel sighting in Munich and Luxembourg next week.
Naz Reid Beach Towels have dropped in price on Ebay. Were around $100 a couple of weeks ago, seems to be closer to $60 now.
I set a reminder to check in on prices in a few months after the hype has hopefully subsided a bit.
Could backfire if he's MVP of the NBA Championship finals.

I'm willing to accept that trade off.
Twins pick up an Old Friend
haha, a 50 for 50.
watching the replays. no way that's a flagrant 2.
Yea, that should get downgraded on appeal, if there's such a thing. At least it didn't cost them a game.
If you're wondering who could possibly suck worse than the Twins right now, it's the White Sox, Marlins and Rockies.
