January 20, 2012: Coffee, anyone?
I'm not much when it comes to making coffee, but at least it's this year's blend.
Twins Collectibles Spotlight: 2011 Topps Update Rene Tosoni
One particular Twins card from this year's Topps Update set is an eye catcher: Rene Tosoni in front of a back drop of St. Louis' Belgium's finest. Besides wanting to share this card with The Nation, I was also curious how closely we could get to identifying the exact play?
2011 Topps Update #177 Rene Tosoni
Who am I?
I absolutely love this photo (which is a clipping from Sports Illustrated, I'm certain), but I don't know who it is. Photo on the back shows Bob Lemon (I believe) in a blue TC hat. Too good not share, in any case.

Go West – “The King is Dead”
English pop duo Go West's debut single was the catchy "We Close Our Eyes", and after a little success they hit it big with "The King of Wishful Thinking", which was used in Pretty Women. Well, apparently The King is done wishing, because now he's dead.

Joe Hisaishi – “Sixth Station”
Can't be a Rhubarb_Runner week without some soundtrack music. My favorite soundtrack composer playing piano on my favorite song by him. This was used in the movie Spirited Away during the incredibly beautiful and melancholy water train sequence.

And below the break, the composer conducts Princess Mononoke Symphonic Suite (and plays piano), from the movie Princess Mononoke.

Planet X – “Inside Black”
Planet X is one of my favorite prog jazz groups; they seem unable to play anything in 4/4 time. There aren't any live videos available of their songs I like the most, but here's a good one from a concert in Sofia, Bulgaria that was recorded for a television special:
