My understanding was that CH Week ended yesterday, but since there doesn't seem to be anything in the hopper, here you go:

As CH week winds down, I thought I'd post one last twin spin, a tribute to the three great foundations of American music - Jazz, Country, and the Blues. "Let's give it to them in black & white."

This is a pretty wild cut, so if you'd like somethig a little more traditional, check out the official video for "Summer Goddess" below the fold, which has some incredible solos and really tight group work. Continue reading Soil & “PIMP” Sessions – Tokyo Jazz 2007
Like great brass? Rocking violin solos? Relentless guitars? A tight rhythm section? Belted vocals? This track's got it all, ladled on nice and thick.

Thanks to suddenly disabled embedding on my original video, The Band performing "The Weight" with The Staple Singers (check out the performance on YouTube anyway, it's really great), I've called an audible. Check out the great Buddy Cage pedal steel solo on this NRPS cut. CCR also did a great cover of this song on their Mardi Gras album, which was released the same year as this cover was released on Powerglide, the second New Riders album. I'm guessing this video was probably a recording of a live performance in support of that new album.

Check it out: Rick Danko's playing a fretless Ampeg bass in this cut, and for some reason he looks (and sounds?) like Dennis Hopper when he's singing his solo. The solos from Mavis and Pops are treasures. From The Last Waltz concert, filmed by Martin Scorsese.

There was some consensus behind sponsoring a player on baseball-reference.com. There's enough money in the WGOM piggy bank that if the community wants it, we could sponsor a player or two.
First, a poll whether the community wants to do it. I'm thinking the total amount spent on sponsoring pages will be $50.
Should we sponsor some pages on B-R.com?
Total Voters: 28
While we're here, we should also discuss who or what to sponsor. Nominate your choices below and in a few days, I'll put up another poll to vote on what will actually be sponsored. Also, don't forget the message that will be displayed with the sponsoring. We have 255 characters to abuse.
My expression of fraternal esteem to everyone here at the WGOM. In song form, of course.

Make the jump for "Prime Numbers," which is sort of like musical Number Munchers, but in a song about ladies' measurements monogamy vs. polyamory . Continue reading The Two Man Gentlemen Band – Fancy Beer + Prime Numbers
Well, alright! 50,000 watts of CH Week coming at you, from Monday to Sunday, right here on WGOM!
The power of Hank's voice still resonates nearly sixty years later. From his second appearance on The Kate Smith Evening Hour, 23 April 1952.
