Two from Stranded, the first Post-Eno record, 1974
Great lyrics on both tunes, and it should come as no surprise that David Byrne was a huge fan of the band.

Love the way they gradually turn this dirge into Dixieland worthy of a second line. Brilliant.

Roxy Music – In Every Dream Home a Heartache / Editions of You
Really don't know how to preface this first one. A love song, maybe? Full of hot air? 1973
"That crazy music drives you insane--This way!" 1973
Roxy Music – Ladytron
At their most experimental. Old Grey Whistle Test 1972. (Dig those unis.)
Roxy Music – Virginia Plain
Welcome to ROXY MUSIC WEEK where we'll look at one of rock and roll's most underrated, yet influential acts. (Not only are they not in the RnR HoF--they've never even been nominated. lol) We'll start at the top--Top of the Pops 1972. Their debut single.
The Struts – Could Have Been Me
Fun to play DJ this week, and encouraging that I was able to put up a couple bands that haven't seen our video page yet. The Struts are another fun one. High-energy, fabulous English rock. The whole album is pretty enjoyable if you're in to that sort thing.
Thanks, all.
Børns – 10,000 Emerald Pools
I ran across this Børns album last year, Dopamine, which is the song I’d rather play, but could find no good video. Anyway, the whole album is, I wouldn’t say “love songs” exactly, but “in love” songs, or “odes,” maybe. They make me think of the love of my life, with whom I now have counseling appointments on Thurdsays, because, well, the feeling isn’t exactly mutual.
The Okee Dokee Brothers – Haul Away Joe
We have covered this before, but these guys are really great. Music and message both really hit the spot. I could have picked any number of their songs for this spot.
My daughter's godfather took us to their concert this year - a lot of fun and so great to have a shared interest with the little ones. Reminiscing with a 5-year old is the best.
Twenty One Pilots – Stressed Out
I don't connect well with my boy most days. Had a spell when this was playing on the radio where we could both sing it together with feeling. Have to take what I can get. I don't know where the tweens are generating all the angst these days.
Eve 6 – Inside Out
I have not purchased a lot of music in my day. For some reason, this song prompted me to buy their CD...back in '98, apparently. Thought it was earlier than that.
I just went through the album again on their website (they do still have one)...not sure when the last time I listened to them, but I must have played the whole thing an awful lot - I could jump into all the songs and sing along. Music is a funny thing.
We even have an Eve 6 tag already. Boy, you guys are thorough.
SOMETHING ROTTEN! – GOD I HATE SHAKESPEARE
Jumping forward to somthing a little more recent...wife and I managed a night out back in April and got to see Something Rotten at the Orpheum. We’ve since gone to see Chicago as well. Both of them a lot of fun. There may be more Broadway in my future.
The cast members in this clip were in the show we saw. So that’s cool.
