I've now learned Perfume Genius is the stage name of one Mike Hadreas. His third album, Too Bright, was released earlier this year and his October appearance on Letterman marked his network TV debut.

These guys have really made me want to take up playing the guitar again so I can learn how to finger tap. They do it so well and integrate it throughout the songs as opposed to just reserving it for a fast, cheesy guitar solo.

There aren't a whole lot of females out there who share my taste in music, so you can imagine how excited I was when I found out a female coworker of mine not only likes metal, but knows BOO personally! This song kind of blew my mind the first time I heard it. The sound quality on this one is not great, so I suggest finding the original as well.

As Dream Theater is to my past, Periphery is to my present. Misha "Bulb" Mansoor gained a reputation for the music he posted online and then later filled in the rest of the band later with extremely talented musicians (including John Petrucci's nephew Jake Bowen). They've pretty much become the definition of "djent."
