Winter Wonderland–Games of November 9

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SCOTTSDALE 5, SURPRISE 4 IN SCOTTSDALE

Scottsdale led 4-3 after one inning.  It was 5-3 going to the ninth.  Surprise got one in and put the tying run on first base before going down.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 with a double and a run and is batting .350 for Surprise.  Tanner English was 0-for-3.  Stephen Gonsalves started and pitched only two-thirds of an inning, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks.  His ERA is now 11.12 in three starts (5.2 innings).

GLENDALE 10, SALT RIVER 0 IN SALT RIVER

A three-run fourth and a four-run fifth made the score 8-0 and the rout was on.  Austin Voth pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and no walks with three strikeouts for Glendale.

PEORIA 5, MESA 4 IN MESA

Kean Wong's RBI single in the ninth drove home the go-ahead run.  Wong went 3-for-5.  Mesa starter Michael Peoples pitched four perfect innings.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

LARA 3, CARACAS 2 IN CARACAS

Rangel Ravelo singled in a run in the sixth to break a 2-2 tie.  Jesus Montero was 3-for-5 with a double for Lara.

ZULIA 5, ANZOATEGUI 4 IN ZULIA (10 INNINGS)

Homers by Reynaldo Rodriguez and Jesus Flores tied the score 4-4 in the sixth.  In the tenth, Wilson Garcia's RBI single plated Jose Pirela with the winning run.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-5 with an RBI for Anzoategui.

MAGALLANES 8, LA GUAIRA 6 IN MAGALLANES (8 INNINGS--RAIN)

A six-run fifth turned a 6-2 deficit into an 8-6 win for Magallanes.  Luis Arraez was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run, dropping his average to .347.

ARAGUA 1, MARGARITA 0 IN MARGARITA

With two out in the fourth, Daniel Alvarez doubled and Ramon Flores singled to produce the game's only run.  Kevin Gadea pitched five shutout innings for Aragua, giving up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

ESTE 5, LICEY 0 IN LICEY

Este scored two in the first and led all the way.  Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-4 for Este.  Nick Martinez pitched six shutout innings, giving up four hits and two walks with four strikeouts.

ESTRELLAS 1, AGUILAS 0 IN ESTRELLAS

Gabriel Guerrero led off the fourth with a double and scored on a two-out single by Raimel Tapia for the only run of the game.  Stephen Fife pitched 5.1 scoreless innings, giving up four hits and no walks with three strikeouts for Estrellas.

ESCOGIDO AT GIGANTES

Rained out.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

CAGUAS 5, AGUADILLA 4 IN AGUADILLA (10 INNINGS)

An error, a single, and a double play produced the go-ahead run in the tenth.  Juan Centeno was 2-for-5 with a double and a run for Aguadilla.

CAROLINA 4, MAYAGUEZ 3 IN CAROLINA

Carolina scored two in the seventh to take a 4-2 lead.  Mayaguez scored one in the eighth and had men on second and third with one out, but a ground out and a strikeout ended the threat.  Lean Marrero was 0-for-2 for Carolina.  J. J. Fernandez was 0-for-4 for Carolina.  Kennys Vargas was 1-for-5 for Mayaguez.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 10, MEXICALI 4 IN JALISCO

A five-run fifth broke a 3-3 tie and put Jalisco in control of the game.  Alberto Carreon was 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple, and a walk, driving in three.

OBREGON 4, MAZATLAN 3 IN OBREGON (10 INNINGS)

Omar Rosario led off the tenth with a double, was bunted to third, and scored on a sacrifice fly to win the game.  Irwin Delgado pitched six innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk with five strikeouts for Obregon.

LOS MOCHIS 8, NAVOJOA 7 IN LOS MOCHIS (10 INNINGS)

Saul Soto doubled and scored in the ninth to tie it 7-7 and J. C. Linares singled home Isaac Rodriguez with the winning run in the tenth for Los Mochis.  Soto also hit a three-run homer, his second.

CULIACAN 11, HERMOSILLO 3 IN HERMOSILLO

Culiacan scored five in the sixth to take a lead it would not give up.  Daniel Carbonell was 3-for-6 with a double, scoring three times and driving in one for Culiacan.

Winter Wonderland: Games of November 8

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

MESA 10, SURPRISE 7 IN MESA

Mesa scored four runs in each of the first two innings, building an 8-1 lead.  Mason Melotakis struck out two in a perfect inning of relief for Surprise.  John Curtiss also pitched a perfect inning.

SCOTTSDALE 13, GLENDALE 3 IN SCOTTSDALE

Scottsdale sent fifteen men to the plate in a ten-run first inning.  Their first twelve batters all reached base.

SALT RIVER 5, PEORIA 4 IN SALT RIVER

JaCoby Jones broke a 2-2 tie with a two-run single in the seventh.  Salt River led 5-2 in the ninth, but with two out Kean Wong hit a two-run double.  However, he was thrown out trying to stretch it two a triple and the game ended.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

ANZOATEGUI 2, ZULIA 1 IN ZULIA

A wild pitch allowed the go-ahead run to score in the eighth inning.  Niko Goodrum was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Anzoategui.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI for Zulia and is batting .351.

LA GUAIRA 15, CARACAS 4 IN LA GUAIRA

Caracas scored one in the top of the first, but La Guaira responded with twelve in the bottom of the first.  Heiker Meneses was 0-for-1 with two walks and two runs for La Guaira.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-4 with a run and an RBI for Caracas and is batting .305.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

LICEY 3, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ESCOGIDO

Diory Hernandez' RBI single capped a two-run eighth that gave Licey the lead.  Daniel Palka was 0-for-4 for Escogido.

ESTE 2, ORIENTE 1 IN ESTE

Deibinson Romero singled home the go-ahead run in a two-run sixth for Este.  Leonardo Reginatto was 2-for-3 for Este.

AGUILAS 9, GIGANTES 8 AT AGUILAS

Aguilas scored seven runs in the first, but needed a bases-loaded hit batsman in the ninth to secure the win.  Ronny Rodriguez was 4-for-4 with a double for Aguilas.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 3, MEXICALI 0 IN JALISCO

Jalisco broke a scoreless tie with two in the fourth.  Bruce Kern pitched 7.1 scoreless innings for Jalisco.

OBREGON 4, MAZATLAN 2 IN OBREGON

Joey Wendle's two-run double in the fourth gave Obregon a 3-0 lead.  Mazatlan had the tying run on second with one out in the ninth.  Blake Bevan pitched 6.1 innings, giving up one run on three hits and a walk.

NAVOJOA 11, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN LOS MOCHIS

Navojoa led 5-0 after two.  Randy Arozarena, Quincy Latimore, and Victor Mendoza each had four hits for Navojoa.

HERMOSILLO 2, CULIACAN 0 IN HERMOSILLO

Luis Alfonso Garcia's two-run double in the sixth produced all of the game's runs.  Pablo Ortega pitched five shutout innings, giving up three hits and a walk.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SURPRISE 8, SALT RIVER 5 IN SURPRISE

Scott Heineman hit a grand slam in a five-run eighth that turned a 4-3 deficit into an 8-4 lead.  Nick Gordon was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run and is batting .339 for Surprise.  Mitch Garver was 1-for-4.  Tanner English was 1-for-3.  Randy Rosario pitched two innings, giving up a run on two hits and a walk.

GLENDALE 15, PEORIA 3 IN GLENDALE

Cody Bellinger hit a three-run homer (his second) and Harrison Bader hit a two-run homer (his second) in a five-run third that broke a 2-2 tie and Glendale led the rest of the way.  Andrew Stevenson was 5-for-6 for Glendale.

SCOTTSDALE 4, MESA 3 IN SCOTTSDALE

Ian Happ's two-run triple in the sixth put Mesa up 3-2, but RBI singles by Hunter Cole and Tim Tebow in the bottom of the ninth gave Scottsdale the victory.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

MAGALLANES 5, LARA 1 IN LARA

Jose Tabata's two-run double broke a 1-1 tie in the third and Magallanes would not lose the lead.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-4 with a walk for Magallanes and is batting .358.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

AGUILAS 3, ESTE 1 AT AGUILAS

In the fourth inning Dylan Cozens hit a two-run homer (his fourth) and Ronny Rodriguez followed with a solo shot (his third) to give the Aguilas all the runs they would need.  Leonardo Reginatto was 0-for-2 for Este.

ORIENTE 3, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ORIENTE

Oriente scored in the fifth on a walk, a double, and a ground out to take a 3-2 lead and four relievers made it stand up.  Daniel Palka was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk for Escogido.  In a blast from the past, one of Palka's teammates is Lew Ford.

GIGANTES AT LICEY

Rained out.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

SANTURCE 2, CAROLINA 0 IN CAROLINA

Back-to-back homers by Ivan DeJesus, Jr. (his second) and Neftali Soto provided all the runs of the game.  J. J. Fernandez was 0-for-3 for Carolina.  In another blast from the past, J. C. Romero pitched two-thirds of an inning, giving up a hit and a walk with one strikeout.

GAMES OF NOVEMBER 5

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

FALL-STARS GAME:  WEST 12, EAST 4

The West scored four in the second and four in the third to take an easy win.  Nick Gordon was the only Twin to make the team, going 0-for-3.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

CARACAS 7, LA GUAIRA 2 IN CARACAS

Caracas scored three in the third and three in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.  Wilfredo Tovar was used as a defensive substitute for Caracas and did not bat.  Heiker Meneses was 1-for-4 for La Guaira.

ZULIA 7, LARA 1 IN LARA

Zulia scored in four of the first five innings to build a 5-1 lead.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 2-for-4 with two home runs (his fifth and sixth) and is batting .352 for Zulia.

ANZOATEGUI 5, MARGARITA 4 IN ANZOATEGUI

RBI singles by Tomas Telis and Rene Reyes in the eighth inning gave Anzoategui a 5-4 win.  Niko Goodrum was 0-for-4 for Anzoategui.

MAGALLANES 10, ARAGUA 5 IN MAGALLANES

Magallanes led 4-0 after one, then had the lead cut to 4-3.  In the fourth, however, Jose Rondon delivered a two-run triple and later scored to secure the Magallanes win.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-4 with two triples and a walk, scoring twice and driving in one.  He is batting .329 for Magallanes.  Jairo Rodriguez was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Aragua and is batting .324.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

ESCOGIDO 3, ESTE 1 IN ESCOGIDO

Joaquin Arias' two-run single in the seventh snapped a 1-1 tie.  Daniel Palka was 1-for-2 with a double and a walk, scoring once for Escogido.  Leonardo Reginatto was 0-for-3 for Este.

ESTRELLAS 5, GIGANTES 2 IN ESTRELLAS

All the runs were scored in the sixth inning, with the Gigantes getting two in the top half and Estrellas countering with five in the bottom half.  Confesor Lara struck out two in a scoreless inning for Estrellas, giving up two hits.  Carlos Paulino was 2-for-4 for the Gigantes.

LICEY 5, AGUILAS 4 AT AGUILAS

Rymer Liriano was 4-for-4 with a triple and a double, scoring twice and driving in two, to lead Licey.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

Leading 3-2, Caguas scored four in the sixth to secure the win.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-1 with two walks for Mayaguez.

Four pitchers combined on a shutout for Aguadilla.  Juan Centeno was 0-for-3 with two walks for Aguadilla.  J. J. Fernandez pinch-hit for Carolina and was 0-for-1.

MAZATLAN 4, LOS MOCHIS 2 IN MAZATLAN

Corey Brown hit a three-run homer (his third) in a four-run fourth for Mazatlan.

HERMOSILLO 4, MEXICALI 1 IN MEXICALI

Matt Skole's three-run homer in the sixth gave Hermosillo all the runs they would need.

CULIACAN 2, OBREGON 1 IN CULIACAN

Joey Meneses two-run homer (his fifth) in the fourth provided all the Culiacan runs.

NAVOJOA 3, JALISCO 0 IN NAVOJOA

With Navojoa leading 1-0, Randy Arozarena hit a two-run triple to put the game out of reach.  Seven pitchers combined for the shutout, with four of them going less than one inning.

LA GUAIRA 13, CARACAS 4 IN LA GUAIRA

Brock Stassi hit a three-run homer (his fifth) as La Guaira took a 4-1 lead in the first inning and never looked back.  Heiker Meneses was 2-for-5 with a double and a walk, scoring twice and driving in four, for La Guaira.  He is batting .300.

ARAGUA 11, MAGALLANES 5 IN ARAGUA

Six of the first seven Aragua batters reached base as they scored six in the first and led all the way.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-6 with a double and two runs and is batting .341 for Magallanes.

LARA 3, ZULIA 2 IN LARA

Two singles and a sacrifice fly brought home the go-ahead run for Lara in the seventh.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 0-for-3 with a walk and a run and is batting .340 for Zulia.

ANZOATEGUI 15, MARGARITA 11 IN ANZOATEGUI

Anzoategui trailed 2-0, led 9-2, trailed 11-10, and then scored five in the bottom of the ninth to win as Emerson Landoni hit a walkoff grand slam.  Niko Goodrum was 3-for-4 with a home run, a triple, a double, and a walk, scoring twice for Anzoategui.  Ryan O'Rourke struck out two but allowed one run on three hits and a walk in two-thirds of an inning for Margarita.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

LICEY 8, AGUILAS 2 IN LICEY

Licey scored six in the second and led all the way.

ESCOGIDO 3, ESTE 2 IN ESTE

Mark Thomas broke a 1-1 tie with a homer in the seventh and Escogido added a needed insurance run on an error in the eighth.  Daniel Palka was 0-for-4 for Escogido.

Johneshwy Fargas hit a three-run double in the eighth to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead.  J. J. Fernandez was 1-for-3 with a walk and a run for Carolina and is batting .333.  Lean Marrero pinch-ran and scored for Carolina.

MAYAGUEZ 8, AGUADILLA 2 IN AGUADILLA

Danny Ortiz hit a three-run homer for Mayaguez in the first inning and they led all the way.

HERMOSILLO 2, MEXICALI 1 IN MEXICALI

Jorge Flores' RBI double broke a scoreless tie in the seventh and Jose Amador homered in the eighth for Hermosillo.

NAVOJOA 4, JALISCO 1 IN NAVOJOA

Humberto Sosa's two-run single in the first gave Navojoa a lead they would not relinquish.

OBREGON 4, CULIACAN 2 IN CULIACAN

Leo Heras hit a two-run single in a three-run third and Obregon led the rest of the game.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SALT RIVER 7, SURPRISE 6 IN SURPRISE (10 INNINGS)

Mauricio Dubon hit a two-run homer in a three-run Surprise seventh that tied it 6-6, but Salt River opened the seventh with three consecutive singles to win the game.  Nick Gordon was 3-for-5 with two runs and is batting .340 for Surprise.  Stephen Gonsalves pitched two innings, giving up two runs on a hit and a walk.  John Curtiss pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout.

GLENDALE 5, PEORIA 1 IN GLENDALE

Carson Kelly hit a two-run double in a three-run Glendale first and they led all the way.

SCOTTSDALE 8, MESA 3 IN SCOTTSDALE

Ryder Jones hit a three-run homer in a four-run Scottsdale first and they led all the way.  It was Jones' second homer.  Bradley Zimmer homered for Mesa, his second.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

MAGALLANES 10, ZULIA 8 IN MAGALLANES

Magallanes led 7-1, then trailed 8-7.  Frank Diaz singled home the go-ahead run for Magallanes in the bottom of the seventh.  Luis Arraez was 3-for-4 with a double, scoring twice and driving in one, to raise his average to .309 for Magallanes.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 1-for-5 with an RBI and is batting .345 for Zulia.

CARACAS 11, MARGARITA 3 IN CARACAS

Caracas scored four in the third and seven in the fourth to get the win.  Omar Bencomo started for Margarita but lasted only three innings, allowing seven runs on eight hits and no walks with one strikeout.

LA GUAIRA 6, ARAGUA 4 IN ARAGUA

A three-run Aragua fifth brought them within two at 6-4, but they only got one baserunner after that.  Heiker Meneses was 1-for-4 with a run for La Guaira.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

ESCOGIDO 7, ORIENTE 6 IN ESCOGIDO (11 INNINGS)

Escogido scored five in the first, but needed a Wilkin Castillo RBI double in the eighth to tie it 6-6 and got an Alex Valdez RBI double in the eleventh to win it.  Confesor Lara pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing a run on a hit and a walk for Oriente to raise his ERA to 2.35.

AGUILAS 6, ESTE 1 IN ESTE

Aguilas scored two in the fifth and four in the seventh.  Boog Powell was 3-for-4 with a walk and a run for Aguilas.  Francisley Bueno pitched five shutout innings.

LICEY 8, GIGANTES 2 AT GIGANTES

Licey scored three in the second and never trailed.  Carlos Paulino was 0-for-1 for the Gigantes.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

CAROLINA 1, CAGUAS 0 IN CAROLINA

Ozzie Martinez singled home J. J. Fernandez for the game's only run in the fifth inning.  Fernandez was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk.

MAYAGUEZ 3, SANTURCE 0 IN SANTURCE

Emmanuel Rivera singled home a run in the seventh to break a scoreless tie and came around to score later in the inning.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-4 for Mayaguez.  Nelson Molina was 0-for-2 for Mayaguez.  Dereck Rodriguez pitched a perfect inning with one strikeout for Mayaguez.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

MEXICALI 4, HERMOSILLO 0 IN MEXICALI

Mexicali scored single runs in the third, fourth, fifth, and eighth.  Edgar Osuna pitched six shutout innings, giving up three hits and three walks with four strikeouts.

OBREGON 8, CULIACAN 1 IN CULIACAN

Already leading 4-0, Obregon scored four in the fifth to put the game out of reach.  Armando Araiza hit a home run for Obregon.  Marco Carilla struck out six in six shutout innings, giving up six hits and two walks.

LOS MOCHIS 6, MAZATLAN 5 IN MAZATLAN

Los Mochis led 6-2 going to the bottom of the ninth, but Brian Hernandez hit a three-run homer and Mazatlan got the tying run on first before going down.  Emmanuel Avila was 3-for-4 with a home run (his second) for Los Mochis.  Jesus Arredondo was also 3-for-4.  Hernandez' homer was his third for Mazatlan.

NAVOJOA 1, JALISCO 0 IN NAVOJOA

A sacrifice fly in the second inning scored the game's only run.  Hector Velazquez struck out eight in six shutout innings for Navojoa, giving up four hits and two walks.  Tyler Alexander struck out twelve in seven innings for Jalisco, giving up one run on three hits and three walks.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

MESA 3, SURPRISE 1 IN SURPRISE

Danny Jansen's two-run single in the sixth put Mesa up 3-1.  Mitch Garver was 0-for-3 with a walk for Surprise.  Tanner English was 0-for-3.  Randy Rosario pitched a scoreless inning, giving up one hit.  Mason Melotakis struck out two in a scoreless inning, giving up two hits--his ERA is 1.13 in eight innings.

GLENDALE 2, SCOTTSDALE 1 IN GLENDALE

A throwing error with the bases loaded provided two runs in the fifth for Glendale, and it was all they needed.

PEORIA AT SALT RIVER

Rained out.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

ANZOATEGUI 8, LARA 1 IN ANZOATEGUI (GAME 1--7 INNINGS)

Luis Hernandez hit a two-run homer in a four-run fifth that put Anzoategui up 5-1.  Niko Goodrum was 0-for-3 with a walk and two runs for Anzoategui.

LARA 4, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ANZOATEGUI (GAME 2--7 INNINGS)

Rangel Ravelo broke a scoreless tie with a two-run homer in the fourth and Lara added two more in the sixth.

MARGARITA 3, CARACAS 2 IN CARACAS

Margarita scored three in the fourth and held on to win.  Wilfredo Tovar was 0-for-3 for Caracas and is batting .307.

Postponed due to wet grounds.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

AGUILAS 5, ORIENTE 4 IN ORIENTE

Danny Richar's two-run double in the fifth broke a 3-3 tie and gave Aguilas enough runs to win.

GIGANTES 6, ESCOGIDO 5 AT GIGANTES (13 INNINGS)

Wilkin Castillo homered in the top of the thirteenth to give Escogido a 5-4 lead, but with the bases-loaded in the bottom of the thirteenth gave the Gigantes the victory.  Daniel Palka was 1-for-5 with a home run and a walk for Escogido.

PUERTO RICAN LEAGUE

SANTURCE 3, MAYAGUEZ 0 IN MAYAGUEZ

Jacob Hannemann tripled and scored in the first and Juan Silva added a two-run double in the sixth.  Kennys Vargas was 0-for-4 for Mayaguez.

CAROLINA 7, AGUADILLA 3 IN AGUADILLA

Aguadilla led 3-0 after three, but Carolina scored four in the fourth and never trailed again.  J. J. Fernandez was 0-for-4 for Carolina and is now batting .375.  Juan Centeno was 1-for-4 for Aguadilla and is batting .071.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 11, HERMOSILLO 8 IN JALISCO

Jalisco scored nine runs in the first and never trailed, although Hermosillo did cut the lead to 9-7 after four.  Jalisco batted thirteen in the first inning, getting five singles, three doubles, and a three-run homer by Art Charles.

OBREGON 3, NAVOJOA 2 IN OBREGON

Carlos Valencia doubled in Matt Juengel to break a 2-2 tie in the eighth.

MEXICALI 6, LOS MOCHIS 5 IN LOS MOCHIS

C. J. Retherford's grand slam capped a five-run eighth that put Mexicali up 6-2.  Los Mochis got within one in the ninth on Sebastian Valle's three-run single-plus-error-plus-error, but Los Mochis did not get the tying run on base.

CULIACAN 3, MAZATLAN 1 IN CULIACAN

Culican scored two in the sixth to break a 1-1 tie.

Winter Wonderland: Games of October 24

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

MESA 7, SURPRISE 2 IN MESA

A single, two doubles, and another single plated three first-inning runs for Mesa and they controlled the game all the way.  Nick Gordon was 2-for-4 and is now batting .393.  Tanner English was 1-for-4.

PEORIA 8, SALT RIVER 2 IN PEORIA

Already leading 4-1, Glendale scored four in the fourth to put the game out of reach.  Paul DeJong hit a two-run homer in the inning.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

ARAGUA 6, ANZOATEGUI 1 IN ANZOATEGUI

Jairo Rodriguez hit a pinch-hit two-run double in the seventh to break a 1-1 tie, and Aragua added three in the ninth.  Rodriguez had a third RBI on a sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-4 for Anzoategui.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

GIGANTES 4, ESCOGIDO 2 IN ESCOGIDO (13 INNINGS)

Carlos Paulino hit a two-out two-run single in the thirteenth to provide the margin of victory for the Gigantes.  Paulino was 2-for-6 in the game.  Daniel Palka was 0-for-5 for Escogido.

ESTE 4, LICEY 3 IN ESTE

Este scored three in the seventh to turn a 3-1 deficit into a 4-3 lead that held up.

ARIZONA FALL LEAGUE

SURPRISE 10, GLENDALE 8 IN SURPRISE

Glendale overcame a 7-1 deficit with a seven-run sixth, but an error allowed the Saguaros to tie it in the bottom of the sixth and a Mauricio Ramos homer in the seventh put Surprise ahead to stay.  Tanner English was 0-for-2 with three walks and a run for Surprise.  Randy Rosario pitched one inning, allowing two runs on three hits.  John Curtiss struck out two in 1.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

LARA 7, CARACAS 2 IN LARA

A two-run sixth put Lara up 4-2 and they never trailed again.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-4 for Caracas.

MARGARITA 6, MAGALLANES 4 IN MAGALLANES

A four-run fourth broke a 2-2 tie and put Margarita in the lead to stay.  Luis Arraez was 1-for-5 for Magallanes.  Nick Greenwood started for Margarita and pitched five innings, allowing three runs on five hits and no walks with three strikeouts.

ARAGUA 10, ANZOATEGUI 4 IN ANZOATEGUI

Aragua had two triples and a double in a six-run first that put them in control of the game.  Jairo Rodriguez was 2-for-5 with a run for Aragua.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk for Anzoategui.

The Gigantes broke a scoreless tie with two in the seventh and broke the game open with seven in the eighth.  No Twins played.

ESTRELLAS 6, ESCOGIDO 3 IN ORIENTE

Estrellas scored three in the sixth and three in the eighth to take a 6-1 lead.  Daniel Palka was 1-for-4 for Escogido.  Confesor Lara retired both men he faced for Estrellas.

AGUILAS 6, ESTE 4 AT AGUILAS

The Aguilas scored three in the third and three in the fifth to take a 6-1 lead.  No Twins played.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 10, CULIACAN 4 IN JALISCO

A six-run second gave Jalisco a 7-0 lead and control of the game.

LOS MOCHIS 8, MAZATLAN 5 IN LOS MOCHIS

Isaac Rodriguez hit a three-run homer to cap a four-run sixth that gave Los Mochis an 8-2 lead.

OBREGON 8, HERMOSILLO 4 IN HERMOSILLO

Hermosillo led 4-3 after four, but in the fifth a sacrifice fly tied it and a three-run homer by Matt Juengel put Obregon in front to stay.

MEXICALI 6, NAVOJOA 3 IN NAVOJOA

Mexicali scored two in the fourth and led all the way.  Navojoa cut the lead to 4-3 in the fifth but got no closer.

VENEZUELAN LEAGUE

MARGARITA 4, LA GUAIRA 4 IN LA GUAIRA (7 INNINGS--SUSPENDED GAME)

Heiker Meneses is 1-for-3 with an RBI for La Guaira so far.  Ryan O'Rourke pitched two-thirds of an inning for Margarita, giving up one run on one hit.

ZULIA 6, LARA 4 IN LARA

Wilson Garcia hit a two-run double in the ninth to break a 4-4 tie.  Reynaldo Rodriguez was 3-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring once and driving in one, for Zulia.

ANZOATEGUI 9, ARAGUA 2 IN ANZOATEGUI

With Anzoategui leading 3-2, Denis Phipps hit a two-run homer in the sixth and they added four in the seventh to cruise to victory.  Jairo Rodriguez was 1-for-3 with a walk for Aragua.  Niko Goodrum was 1-for-3 with a double and a walk, scoring twice, for Anzoategui.

CARACAS 4, MAGALLANES 3 IN MAGALLANES

Caracas scored three in the third to go ahead 3-1.  Magallanes got within one at 4-3 in the seventh and had the tying run on third, but got no closer.  Wilfredo Tovar was 1-for-4 with a double and a walk, scoring once, for Caracas.  Victor Tademo was used as a pinch runner for Magallanes.

DOMINICAN LEAGUE

GIGANTES 8, AGUILAS 3 AT GIGANTES

The Gigantes scored five in the first and were never threatened.  Carlos Paulino was 1-for-3 with an RBI for the Gigantes.

ESCOGIDO 4, LICEY 0 IN ESCOGIDO

Escogido got four singles and two walks in the fifth inning, producing all four of their runs.  Daniel Palka was 1-for-4 with a run and two RBIs for Escogido.

ESTRELLAS 2, ESTE 1 IN ESTRELLAS

All the runs were scored in the fifth.  Mayo Acosta hit a solo homer in the top half and RBI singles by Gustavo Nunez and Alexi Casilla produced two runs in the bottom half.  Confesor Lara retired the only man he faced for Estrellas.

MEXICAN LEAGUE

JALISCO 9, CULIACAN 7 IN JALISCO

Culiacan led 5-1 half-way through, but Jalisco scored five in the fifth and five in the sixth to take the lead to stay.

LOS MOCHIS 9, MAZATLAN 1 IN LOS MOCHIS

Los Mochis scored two in the first, three in the second, and four in the fourth.

MEXICALI 3, NAVOJOA 2 IN NAVOJOA

Welington Dotel singled in the go-ahead run with two outs in the top of the ninth.

OBREGON 5, HERMOSILLO 4 IN HERMOSILLO

Hermosillo led 4-1 after six, but Obregon scored two in the seventh to get back in it.  Carlos Valencia singled in the tying run in the eighth and Christian Villanueva had an RBI single for the go-ahead run in the ninth.
