  1. Thanks for your posts today, Padre. These are always great work and greatly appreciated, doubly so these days what with the flood you're also fighting.

    1. At this point, we've fought the flood about as much as we can. The levees have been built, and the sandbags are in place. There's not much else we can do now but wait and see if it'll all hold or not.

  2. dido.

however, on the substance, I has a question. "Nick Romero was promoted from Ft. Myers to Rochester." Seriously???
Romero's line at Ft. Myers this year: 222/318/310, with 36 Ks and 27 BBs in 237 PA. How does that get you promoted up two grades (from A+ to AAA)? Is Rochester that short-handed on infielders?

(and if so, that would be a pretty strong indication that Juicy isn't being sent down, like, EVER)

    1. My guess (and that's all it is) is the same as yours, that it's a temporary move to handle a temporary positional shortage.

      1. No explanation from Mandelaro, but he does relay this gem:

Fred Costello, the Red Wings' team organist since 1977, will be honored with the Spirit of the International League Award.

It goes to a person who works tirelessly to enhance the fan experience and significantly contribute to the overall success of the day-to-day production.

Rochester remains the only IL team to use an organist. The other 13 use pre-recorded music and audio effects.

        1. in his Democrat & Chronicle story earlier this week, Mandelaro noted:

The Wings now have eight infielders and one outfielder and are still one player below the 24-man limit.

          say whaaa? one outfielder???

in his column today, he repeated some of that information (including promotions to the Twins, demotions from the Twins, and the mysterious Romero move), then said this:

The Wings, who have played below the 24-man roster limit much of the year, are now at 25 and will have to make a move.
