It'd be nice if Jim Thome would hurry up and hit number 600, so I can move on with my plan of watching games until we're losing by two, because we're back to the point where the starting pitching is bad, and a Twins lead sometimes seems like an insurmountable deficit. Things are tough to watch, a few players excepted.
The Smartest Pitcher in Baseball takes the mound tonight against Zach Stewart, who is making just his 4th big league start. Our favorite tater-masher should get some good cuts in today.
Let's see some dongers jacked... I mean... umm... yeah.

Im to the point where I watch the Twins because there wont be baseball everyday in a month and a half. savor every moment, good or bad
Tom Kelly in the booth tonight. cool.
On the Grill: Omaha Steaks hamburger w/Colby Jack* cheese, locally grown white kernal corn on the cob, Jack Daniels Lynchburg Lemonade, and a Sara Lee dutch apple pie fresh out of the oven
*hoping for Thome jacks tonight
On the Grill: Meatloaf wrapped in bacon on a cedar plank with mashed taters and homebrewed hefeweizen, and brownies.
ZOMG!!!!!!
It was the Another Pint Please recipe. Delicious.
Oh, and for the record, I used about half as much beer as the recipe suggests and it was still a bit sloppy.
A Pavano K?!
the stache on Anthony look horrendous
great dick move, A.J.
yeah, the pitch wasnt really close to hitting him
okay, tired of hearing about Chili's golf game; there's a baseball game on right now, isn't there?
Alright, ready to go. I just finished a marathon gaming session of eight hours. I haven't done that in a long time. I should probably get up and do some calisthenics or something.
I miss gaming marathons. I miss life that had few enough responsibilities that I could engage in gaming marathons.
I don't have that kind of life, but I had that kind of day. I didn't mean to use it this way, but I've been writing so much lately I just had to take a day off.
Man on base + Tolbert up = no more man on base + sad face
Hey spooky - Runner daughter watched Me and Orson Welles off Netflix last night; I'm sure she watched it for Zac Efron, but hopefully she learned some things about Orson and the Mercury Theater. I thought it was alright. Oh wait, is there still a ballgame on?
Awesome. I bristle at the casting, but I still want to see that. To date, my favorite film about Welles is RKO 281, with Liev Schreiber as Welles.
And RKO 281 is one I've been wanting to see.
three pitch K. THAT'S the way you do it, F-Bomb
You can stop sucking now Twins.
that was a really quick half inning
Hope ya didn't blink, Twins fans. Or, rather, I hope you did.
Looks like Pavano has good movement on his pitches tonight
Oh, good, Cuddyer with an uno. Picking up where we left off!
SEND HIM!!!!
Uh...
poor fans have to have SOMETHING to remember from this game
oooh, snap! Mrs. Runner says it's so long since I've won the trivia question that she's "embarrassed to be Mrs. Runner". Well, we'll see what happens tonight...
another thing Pavs has over F-Bomb is that he prefers not to walk the leadoff batter but instead walk the batter after the first out. Very veterany
ugggh 🙁
lots of Sox fans at Target tonight? sounds like a lot of cheering
They have a vocal bunch, yeah.
Juan Pierre threw Delmon out. wow. just wow.
oh geez, even when things go right they go wrong
Please, please stop featuring the Circle Me signs with the "Priceless" (attempts at) jokes. They're awful.
I didn't see it, but I'll just assume that I would prefer to not see _elm_n back as a Twin next year.
It was a pretty good idea to go, and it was a bang-bang play that could have been called either way.
Being that it was Juan Pierre, I definitely believe that it might not have been a bad idea. I still would prefer to see _elm_n uno'ing for a different team next year.
It would have been better if _elm_n hadn't lollygagged his way to first base before he starting running.
Dick just said "As you saw, a pretty good call by Angel Hernandez." I never thought I'd hear that.
any call that he makes that looks close to being right is a good call
Alright, I gotta get an over-hopped blonde ale bottled.
whew! glad Thome made second on that so we didn't have to have him steal it
Thanks for taking that run away, blue.
Angel Hernandez is in this game, and it wasn't even him.
Upon replay, it looks like they actually had him. Well, kiss my grits.
I just checked Diamond Centric to replace my "Thome is my Homey" shirt as mine has shrunk a little. I had a medium and was gonna go up to a large, but they only have XL left. I might do that, but it'd be a bit baggy on me.
STEROIDS!!!
CHICKEN DINNER! Mrs. Runner is no longer embarrassed (for now)
"our old friend", eh?
yeah, me 'n Kris are like this. no, nevermind
w00t. Coming to you from the new home computer. 25 inches of sunburning widescreen monitor too. If the Twins were in the pennant race, I might consider upgrading to MLB.com tv.
do we like Firefox 5??
nope. uninstall and install Google Chrome
well, can't I just have both? I mean, I got a 1.5 Tb hard drive. That's a Tb for Windoze and Office and lots left over for other applications and data.
btw, opinions on OpenOffice or (what was the branch called)??? this machine (an HP from Costco) only has an invitation to purchase MS Office (or a crippled version of Excel and Word).
First, uninstall 90% of all the HP hand-holding crap they they include on every PC. Then buy insurance for your hard drive.
oh, thanks very much for that insurance crack. I have my external hard drive set up right next to the new box, and have created a Windoze 7 Repair Disk and set of HP recovery disks already. next up is to start doing weekly?? backups.
sheesh, A.J. was more than happy to go to first with a fake HBP, and now he's bellyaching on a real one?
I don't want the Twins to pull this game out until late in the 9th, when it hurts more
I'm not greedy. I'll settle for a blowout right now.
Cuddy go 2.
Fire Sale!
crush it, Jimmers!
not..crushed...
oh great, LaRussa is now the Sox' manager?
Runner on third with nobody out and no runs, I thought that was just White Sox baseball?
Err, no runs pending.
you were right the first time.
I figured I was, but didn't want to come across as a negative nancy. But seriously, three strikes looking? C'mon Danny, you aren't Tolbert.
At least blue sucks.
Aaaaaaaand done.
OFFS.
Let's just get all the bad mojo out this year so we can win the Series next year.
2007 was so long ago, I've forgotten how much it sucks.
that was no walk. those pitches to Pierre weren't all balls!
Looks like Tichenor and Gardy have some history. Or, Tichenor has a history of sucking, at any rate.
who doesn't Gardy have history with?
Errrm, Milt?
yeah, that sucks.
well, that does it.
Yep, I'm gonna go watch a movie, or something.
Ladies and gentlemen, your 2011 Twins
On top of everything, an 11-pitch walk? Argh.
yeah, that was great. really great.
Oh, no effing way.
This game removes whatever doubt I had that this team is the worst since 2000.
I don't know, man. Erase the first third of this season and it's not nearly as annoying as the drudgery of 2007. There were really no hot streaks then, were there? Just season-long mediocrity.
I think it's amazing how the human mind can block out painful memories.
And that led to two Game 163s and three complete seasons of never playing a game when eliminated from contention.
Boo.
So, did I miss anything?
Gleeman tweets Twins have been outscored by 101 runs. This is a pretty shocking freefall for a team that won 94 games last year and that this year has a top 10 payroll and the highest payroll in team history.
Teams have good luck and bad luck.
Some bad luck for sure, but some pretty stupid decisions along the way also.
