Game Recap: Yankees 8, Twins 4

NEW YORK 8, MINNESOTA 4
Record
- 54-69 (4th in Central)
Highest WPA
- Plouffe! (2 for 5), Nishioka (2 for 4, R, RBI)
Lowest WPA - Duensing (5.0 IP, 6R, 3 HR), Morneau (o for 4)

----------

My wife got a job yesterday, so we went out to The Burger Stand (I got a Smoke Burger with the Ad Astra Ale from the local Free State Brewery) to celebrate.  As a result, my viewing of this game is pretty much limited to the first inning plus some highlight clips.  On the other hand, I didn't have to watch a very good team beat a not very good team easily and we just theoretically doubled our yearly income as a family.

Add in the burgers and I think that's a win-win for me.

  1. Congrats to your wife, and yeah, you didn't miss much with the game. (not that I lasted much beyond the first half either.)

  2. It seems unfair that Duensing always seems to get matched up against Captain Cheeseburger.

  3. Random observations from the game last night:

-Morneau's ball was pretty clearly foul from my vantage point. I was surprised to see how emphatic Jim Wolf was in making his call (quick lesson from refereeing school: if you're not sure, sell the crap out of the call because it will plant some doubt in the back of the minds of those who saw differently)
-It was beyond sad how shallow the Yankees played Revere, Nishioka, and Butera in the outfield. They played all three, across the field, about thirty feet shallower than any Yankee was played.
-Joe Mauer's two-handed fundamentals were quite amusing.
    -Doucheira is such a Douche.
-How did Nishioka not clearly see Granderson trap the ball directly in front of him?
-The most influential person in Ben Revere's life (according to the scoreboard) has been DSPAN-2.
-Listening to "Jump" on the PA system is not quite as funny if _elm_n hadn't just failed to make an attempt at a homerun that landed a foot above him.
