Sure, Frogstomp was a pretty big deal. But man, Silverchair really matured with their second record.

Man, I used to say some stupid stuff in High School.

I remember really enjoying these guys, but this review pretty well sums them up.
Their third record is kind of interesting musically as a sort of grunge/post-grunge/orchestral fusion (although there's probably a threshold requirement to be a little interested in post-grunge in the first place) and you can kind of see some of the signs of this on their second album (which this song is from). Daniel Johns never really figured out how to write lyrics that made sense, though, and their fourth album went a little overboard completely.
lyrics that make sense are overrated
Whoops, I think I left out an album in this accounting, since this song is from their third album, and the sort-of-interesting one is their fourth.
When I worked at Randall's grocery in NU, one of the other baggers (who had MTV or something) told me about this great new band out of Australia that were as good as Soundgarden or Alice In Chains* and were just teenagers. Never having heard of them, I was curious, so he lent me the CD (Frogstomp) a few days later. I dubbed it and got it back to him and probably listened to it ten times over a few days and never saw what was great about them, or even that good. I listened a few more times over the next few months, assuming I was missing something, but nope. I still have that tape in my basement. I have no desire to dig it out.
*Seriously, nearly everyone considered the four Seattle bands to be co-equals (these two plus Nirvana and Pearl Jam). A few who were also metalheads distinctly preferred Alice in Chains, probably because of "Man in the Box" (but maybe also because of "Would?", and definitely not because of "Rooster".)
