  1. So, how does everyone like Brad Radke's chances of making the Hall of Fame?

  2. I'm getting ready to watch the Vikings/Broncos game. For some reason, I'm pretty sure this will be the game Tebow throws for 300+ yards and looks like a competent quarterback. I also want to see who the Vikes throw out there at WR, since they don't have a whole lot of healthy options right now.

    1. Damn, Billick "commenting" again on the Vikings game. He annoys the crap out of me. Not only does he rarely give any useful insights, he also ignores the game action. I hope he gets back into coaching somewhere soon.

  3. Yikes, Jared Allen gets the sack and the forced fumble. Can't believe that didn't fall under the "ground can't cause a fumble" rule.

  4. As someone with no rooting interest in this game, I'd like to say this is a bad football game played by two bad football teams. However, I do believe Ponder has much better odds of becoming an adequate NFL quarterback than Tebow.

    1. The Vikings with Adrian Peterson are a bad team. Without him, they are nearly as bad as the Browns.

      1. They covered him!

Did Billick just call that duck a "well thrown ball?" If that isn't a duck, that's probably a touchdown.

            1. Heh. FOX highlighted all the Tebow comeback victories and no one bothered to mention the Broncos scored less than 20 points in every one of them (till now).

  5. Awesome. I get to watch the Vikings until the last 90 seconds because the NFL wanted me to see 5 minutes of commercials and pregame for the 49ers.

  6. Tebow made 10 completions for over 200 yard. man, that is disgusting. The first half of that game was some pretty bad football on both sides, but that second half was entertaining. If Percy Harvin played for the Cowboys or Giants or some 'national' team, I bet he would get MVP consideration.
Also, Brian Billick has been an announcer for a few years now, he should be able to say Jarred Allen's name correctly (kept calling him Gerald Allen, maybe Gerald is a cousin of Jason Morneau or something)

    1. I met Bono tonight. No. Joak.

Sweet! Did you ask him if he still thanks God it's them instead of him?

    1. word on the street is they have the best chance to land brrrrrrly too (though this was speculated before the reyes deal was noted).

      1. I sort of feel bad for the Mets in this. They are going to get a 3rd round pick from the Marlins for Reyes, because Heath Bell has a higher Elias ranking. Wow.

          1. I don't understand why they didn't cover these situations when discussing how compensation will work this year. You'd think that they would slot in the pick before Miami & after San Diego in the 2nd round, but I guess not. Pretty stupid. Sucks for the Mets.

            1. I'm sure they did, but not enough voting people care about it. The players union probably would be against that for instance, since it would raise the non-contract costs of the signing, reducing how much the player would get.

  7. We went to our local arts hangout (funded by you!) to watch a Lars von Trier disaster movie called Melancholia, about a planet (with that same name) headed on a collision course with Earth.

I would have renamed the 136 min film and the planet Melodramia, and maybe left some of the bitter family fighting scenes (happens, but not sure how connected with impeding disaster) on the cutting-room floor.

    1. I saw his Dogville once and a half times (fell asleep the first night, rewatched just because I needed to know how the dog poo ended).
I and the wife found it unintentionally hilarious. The ending made up for it a little, but really not enough. I told myself I'd not watch another movie from him, but then Melancholia intrigued me a bit. Thanks for knocking some sense into me (and telling me the length).

    1. the Nick Johnson game winner is just the Wilds luck lately. guy crashing the net and hits his boot and goes in.

      1. What's wrong with the last line in this 4LTR summary?

Wild keep Ducks reeling on Johnson's late goal
Nick Johnson scored the go-ahead goal with 5:31 left in the third period, Casey Wellman and Pierre-Marc Bouchard scored 32 seconds apart in the second period, leading the Minnesota Wild to a 4-3 victory over the Anaheim Ducks 5-3 on Sunday night.

            1. That very well might be! The last goal was an empty-net, short-handed hustle goal by Clutterbuck. He calmly placed the puck in the net after it rebounded off the boards behind the goal and the defender (who'd been hacking away as the two skated towards the cage) went flying past the net thinking he'd successfully diverted the puck.

  8. tv's on after the SNF game. lead story on the NBC5 (local chicago) news is matt forte's injury. really?

    1. I can't remember if I mentioned this here, but the first time I watched the local news in LA, the lead story (ten minutes were spent on it, at least) was that a house formerly owned by Jack Nicholson was on fire.

      1. When we moved from DC to San Diego, we switched from the WaPo to the LA Times. I often remarked as to how lead paragraphs in the Times -- on almost any topic -- would include descriptions of what the lead characters were wearing. It could be a murder story, financial story, or political story, it didn't really matter. Style over substance.
