    3. Joe Mauer, C
    4. Josh Willingham, LF
    5. Justin Morneau, DH

    1. What happens when Span gets ejected tonight?

Also, did anybody every find out what he said? It seemed like a BS ejection.

      1. I just watched the video- Gibson actually let Span vent for quite a while before he tossed him, but it was still BS. It was a ball, and it didn't look to me like Span did anything to show up the ump. Gardy's ejection looked like it was pretty well-deserved, however πŸ˜‰ .

  2. some serious bad luck going on. Cano get a hit on a pitch over his eyes, and Swisher dribbles one past Casilla

    1. Livan led the league in Wins for a point there.
/May not be true, but something like that.

  3. Nice to have that early run against the Yankees. Too bad Marquis had to use so many pitches to get out of that early jam. 1-0, Twins. At least, that is how I'm going to choose to remember it.

  4. Joe needs to tell Marquis that just because we scored doesn't mean he has to allow the Yankees to score that same inning.

  5. No, Marquis, there are so many better people in that lineup to hit than Russel Martin.

  6. Is match play in golf the format where you win or lose each hole, rather than total score? It would be interesting to play a few ball games where you get 1 point for outscoring your opponent in an inning, whether by 1 run or 10, just to see what would transpire.

    1. That's a lot of excitement for taking two balls outside, bS. I will wait patiently for my Gameday to catch up.

  7. "Daddy, you scared me!" I guess I shouldn't freak out my 3 yr old when Morneau hits a homer

  8. Wow, really? One solo homer and they pull him? Kuroda just had a 1-2-3 inning, correct? Interesting. Fine by me.

    1. Sorry I keep doing this to you, dw, but in this case I think you're thinking of Clay Zavada. I say it now since I want everyone to make sure they examine for the first time, or refresh their memories of, Zavada's awesome mustache.

  9. Bert: "Clay Rapada coming in to replace Kuroka."

Kuroda, Bert. He's a starting pitcher. He's today's starting pitcher, and he's fairly decent. Learn his name.

      1. We had two Japanese girls in our theater department. One was short, gorgeous, spoke perfect English, was kind of a bitch and had a lot of acting talent. The other was tall, plain, spoke broken English, was incredibly sweet and had no discernible acting talent. Still, one of our faculty members always mixed up their names.

  10. The Twins got a call for them in New York? No... no, no, no... this isn't right at all...

  11. Well, Marquis finally figured out how to now allow a get-back run. With some help. I'm heading home, so hold down the fort (and the lead) while I'm gone.

  12. I will give Bert credit, I laughed heartily when he said "that's a pretty good pitch right there" on the throw to first.

  13. flipped over to the hockey game. It was 3-2 Flyers last time I checked in during the 1st period. Its now 9-3 Penguins. LOL what?

  14. It seems Gardy plans to use Duensing early and often this year. Ah, the perils of being a quality reliever in the Twin's bullpen.

    1. Grey or Maloney, right? Oh, I forgot Burnett. Um, maybe just bring in Capps and let him get the blown save over with?

  15. There's a local plumbing company here in Omaha called Burton Plumbing and their catch phrase is "When your plumbings hurtin', time to call Burton." It's all I can think of every time I see Burton.

  16. Haven't been able to be here for almost a year. Sure would love to see some puppies soon!

  17. So apparently nondescript trash heap relievers are the Yankees weakness. Twins need to have five guys like this ready to go every time they face the Yanks.

    1. Burton is not your run of the mill middle reliever. He has a career 127 ERA+ in over 170 innings and a 7.7 K/9. I believe he was a setup man for the Reds and then got hurt the last couple years.

  18. hate to say it because I hate the guy, but that was a great AB by Jeter. then he hit the ball far

    1. Great AB helped out by a bandbox. Can't get on Capps for that one. He saved a two-run lead facing A-Rod, Jeter, Granderson and Teixeira. He pwned Granderson, too.

      1. It's a bandbox, yeah, but at least right center is a pretty legit homer. It's not like a fence-scraper down the right field line.

        1. The distance may be legit, but there's a jet stream going out to the gaps in this park, a lot like Texas.

  19. So... Twitchy had his obligatory base runner.... Capps has his obligatory run?

  20. Anyone else see that cup get thrown at Thomas as he tried to catch that last ball?

    Stay classy NY.

  21. Did anybody notice somebody tried to throw a cup at Thomas right before he caught the ball? I wonder if they would have called him out had that screwed him up.

    1. I'm guessing they wouldn't have. It's NY. That's just what teams have to deal with there.

Meanwhile, I was at the game when Joe Torre pulled his players off the field and threatened to make the Twins forfeit because someone threw a hot dog at Knoblauch between batters.

      1. When I went to Game 1 of the 2004 ALDS, no one really harassed me (one perk of being in the 5th to last row in the upper deck RF corner), but I bumped into some Twins fans on the way out who were sitting just beyond the RF fence in the first couple of rows and had bottles and batteries thrown at them (and saw a few thrown at Jacque Jones).

        1. Yeah, I remember a lot of ballplayers at the time saying "I've had way worse than hot dogs thrown at me when I was a visiting player in NY."

I also seem to recall that a certain sports news station praised Joe Torre's brave decision and talked about how awful the fans were in MN.

  22. Someone tell Capps that you still get a save if you lead by up to 3 runs. He doesn't have to keep letting them score to get within one.

    1. well, the ball was thrown right down the middle of the plate. He just got underneath it

      1. Watching on TV, it looked like good location, up and in. I was surprised it went as far as it did.

      2. Gameday has the final out on video. It wasn't up, but it was right on the inside corner. Mauer set up inside and his glove didn't move.

  23. Nice to get at least a split. I promised the wife ice cream if the Twins won, so we're off to DQ.

  24. I'm going to log out and go to bed. When I wake up and look back at this game log I want puppies!
