  1. Gardenhire said on his radio show on Friday that he planned to start Drew Butera at catcher, but he put Joe Mauer in the lineup after Mauer said he wanted to catch. Justin Morneau has been pushing to play first base on a regular basis, and he was in the lineup against the Brewers, though Gardenhire said it was too soon to tell if Morneau could start all three games against Milwaukee.

Oh great. Gardy benches our .350 hitting catcher for some "gamer."

  2. Hart looks like he spends too much time playing video games and not enough time shagging fly balls.

      1. It is truly appalling how many games he bought from me.

Today, Royals starter Danny Duffy came in and bought a PS3 and a ton of games. He just found out he needs TJ surgery, and figured he had nothing better to do for the next 14 months.

  3. Sano not in the lineup tonight. I wonder if it is just a day off or something else.

In his last nine games, Miguel Sano is hitting .182 (6-33) for @BeloitSnappers. In his last ten games, Eddie Rosario is hitting .167 (6-37).

  4. You heard it here first: Scott Diamond is going to break shatter Hershiser's scoreless inning streak.

    Starting.... now!

  5. 1st & 3rd, no outs, Braun at the plate and only one run allowed? I'll definitely take that. I can't imagine Brewers fans are pleased.

    1. Six innings, seven strikeouts, and only 65 pitches. Verlander might not have to throw 120 again.

      1. Neither of his two no-hitters topped 120 pitches though. First was a mere 108 and the second was 112. Seems like 116 is the obvious choice now.

      1. Just flipped over to see Delmon 3-RBI nite (so far). No hitter into the 7th for the Tiggers.

    2. Eight innings, 12 strikeouts, 95 pitches. He started the third batter with a 100 mph called strike. No chance.

  6. Three minor league teams are leading late. Beloit is tied in the fourth inning.

  7. that was Mauer's 225th career double, good for 10th on the Twins leaderboard. Morneau is 9th with 237 and Cuddyer is 8th with 239.

  8. I see the Brewers organ player knows Sweet Caroline. What a treat.

    1. It can be found in the fiction section.

Better than a DP though, I suppose.

  9. I think, as far as snack food goes, Bugles are criminally underrated.

    1. I would say the same for FunYuns. I had some for the first time in years a couple months ago, and they were amazing.

    2. you know, about once ever three years I get a craving for those. Then I'm good

    3. I agree on Bugles. You got some of the fancy flavored ones, or the classic style?

      1. I feel like these would be a pretty good Chopped ingredient.

  10. MLB.tv just highlighted the big unit striking out his 4000th batter. I'm not so sure it was actually strike three...

      1. Oh, no doubt he was a man amongst boys, but that particular strike three was a bit suspect.

  11. So, we give away an out with the bases loaded so we can get one more out from the SP. Nice.

    1. well, I dont think part of the plan was to give up a 550 foot HR and then a laser shot double.

      1. Obviously not, but he was already past the heart of the order and Weeks has been struggling and Ishikawa is a lefty. I would have liked to let the guy try to get out of the inning. If you want pitchers to go longer in the game, you have to allow them to learn how to get out of jams in the middle innings. I would have waited till one more runner got on base.

  12. I wonder why the Miller Park music guy was playing 'Tijuana Taxi' by Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass?

    1. Revere might be able to have a not-so-pathetic slugging percentage if he can get enough triples. If he plays full time, ten triples a year seems a reasonable average.

    2. I think Revere's best case scenario is Juan Pierre (weak arm, high batting average, empty batting average, good range), and Pierre's career line is .297/.346/.363. Also has 9 seasons of 2+ fWAR.

  13. Sounded like he really hit the crap out of that one, but I'm sure he'll take it.

  14. Which is more impressive? Taking a no-hitter into the ninth at home vs. the Pirates or pitching a two-hit shutout in Colorado?

      1. Pirate batters have the worst K rate in all of baseball. Rockies have the eighth-best rate.

        1. So the question was rhetorical.

The Pirates have a SRS of -0.3 compared to the Rockies -0.5, so the Pirates are a slightly better team so far this year. With 30 plate appearances (which is what Verlander had), the Pirates would be expected to strike out 6.79 times, assuming they've faced league average pitching this year. For the Rockies, Millwood also faced 30 batters and the Rockies would be expected to strikeout 5.28 times. That means Millwood was +1.72 strikeouts above average compared to Verlander's +5.21.

Verlander. It is the Pirates He had 12 strikeouts.

  15. I had an alesmith Ipa, and several g n ts with fresh SoCal lemons instead of limes. Muy Bueno

  16. Cool. I wanted to see the Brewers finish with more errors than runs. They've got a shot now.
