BOWIE 11, NEW BRITAIN 3 IN BOWIE

Batting starChris Herrmann was 3-for-5 with a home run, his eighth.

Pitching stars:  None.

Opposition stars:  Rob Widlansky was 4-for-4 with a double and a triple.  Rhyne Hughes was 3-for-5 with a double and a home run, scoring three times.  Mike Wright gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and three walks in six innings.

Key inning:  The third.  Leading 3-2, the Baysox scored twice to stretch their lead.  Hughes doubled, then Widlansky hit an RBI triple and scored on a sacrifice fly.

DAYTONA 2, FORT MYERS 1 IN DAYTONA

Batting starsJosmil Pinto was 2-for-3 with a double and a walk.  Daniel Santana was 2-for-4 with a double.

Pitching starMadison Boer allowed one run on six hits and three walks in six innings.

Opposition stars:  Starter Lendy Castillo gave up an unearned run in four innings, allowing three hits and a walk.  Eduardo Figueroa worked three shutout innings, allowing one hit.  Ronald Torreyes was 2-for-3 with a walk.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The score was tied at one.  The Cubs started the inning with a walk and a single, putting runners on first and third.  A ground out scored what turned out to be the winning run.

BELOIT 8, KANE COUNTY 6 IN BELOIT

Batting starsNate Roberts was 3-for-4 with a double.  Eddie Rosario was 3-for-5 with a double.  Miguel Sano was 2-for-5 with a double and a home run, his twenty-first.  He had five RBIs.

Pitching starZachary Jones retired all five men he faced, three by strikeout.

Opposition stars:  Tim Ferguson was 2-for-4.  Cody Fassold struck out five in three innings, giving up a run on three hits and a walk.

Key inning:  The seventh.  The Snappers led 6-5.  In the top of the inning, a single, an error, and a single tied the score.  In the bottom of the inning, Kennys Vargas walked, went to second on a bunt, took third on a Stephen Wickens single, and scored when JaDamion Williams hit a sacrifice fly to put Beloit back in the lead.

Other:  Beloit lost a 6-0 lead before coming back to win.

ELIZABETHTON 3, BURLINGTON 2 IN ELIZABETHTON (11 INNINGS)

Batting starsJorge Polanco was 2-for-4 with a double.  Michael Quesada was 2-for-4 with a walk.

Pitching stars:  Starter Ricardo Arevalo worked four innings, allowing a run on one hit but five walks.  Luis Nunez struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.  Christian Powell struck out two in two shutout innings, allowing one hit.

Opposition stars:  Yender Caramo gave up one run on three hits and no walks in seven innings, striking out six.  Patrick Leonard was 2-for-4 with a double.

Key inning:  The eleventh.  The score was tied at two.  Adam Walker led off the inning with a triple.  The next two batters went out with the runner still on third.  Quesada then delivered the RBI single to win the game.

GCL ORIOLES 3, TWINS 2 AT ORIOLES

Batting starAderlin Mejia was 3-for-4 with a double.

Pitching star:  Starter Felix Jorge pitched 3.2 scoreless innings, giving up two hits and two walks while striking out three.

Opposition stars:  Jalen Simmons was 2-for-3 with a double.  Dioni Dominguez struck out nine in four shutout innings, allowing one hit and two walks.

Key inning:  The sixth.  Trailing 2-0, the Orioles scored three times.  A walk, a single, a sacrifice bunt, and a sacrifice fly plated the first run.  Three consecutive singles scored two more and gave the Orioles the lead.

DSL ROCKIES 4, TWINS 2

Batting starsJunior Boni was 1-for-2 with a walk.  Rafael P. Valera was 1-for-3 with a walk.

Pitching starElias Villasana struck out two in two shutout innings, giving up two hits.

Opposition stars:  Marcos Derkes was 3-for-4 with a double.  Antonio Senzatela allowed an unearned run in five innings, giving up four hits and a walk.  Carlos Yan struck out three in three shutout innings.

Key inning:  The seventh.  Leading 3-2, the Rockies got an insurance run on a single, a bunt, and an error.

Other:  The Twins made three errors.  Three of the four Rockies runs were unearned.
