2012 Game 116: Tigers at Twins

Doug Fister
v
Brian Duensing

FSN talking about the internal debate about whether Duensing should start or relieve. Bert then talks about how his last three starts are good evidence he should start. Yes, clearly just those three starts matter. I really need to avoid tuning in until the last possible minute.

                    1. Probably, but I would have to write a lot more code. As it is now, you can click the button, press 'tab', and then enter to send it, so that should be quick enough.

                    2. PHP. The problem is that the code for the plugin is simple enough and adding it to the quick tag list is also simple, just a configuration change. Melding the two and then automatically mailing the LTE would involve joining multiple, disparate things.

  1. Just finished up a dinner of grilled burgers seasoned with Tony Chachere Creole Seasoning & topped with provolone, now I'm drinking a Pibb Zero and settling in for the game. I'm going to bail if it gets ugly early since I have Darksiders II waiting for me.

    1. Roast pork with Bohemiam Rub(fixed) spices (wife picked them up on recent trip to Colorado) on top of noodle medley (rice stick, green onion, mushroom, beef broth, fish sauce, oyster sauce, and cilantro, Sriracha.

    2. Dr. Chop and I bought a bushel of actual hatch green chili on Sunday and spent the rest of the weekend roasting and peeling peppers. We had green chili stew for dinner tonight, which is helping drive off this cold I'm working on.

  2. No, I don't think Dunce is a starting pitcher. I made this determination a very long time ago.

        1. Almost.

Nick Blackburn has a 5.59 ERA in 44 starts since the beginning of last season, allowing 315 hits in 241.2 innings.

  3. I am a bit testy this evening. Dick'n'Bert are already wearing on me. I ran some errands on the bike earlier, but I'm thinking I might need another ride to just chill out.

  4. Oh yeah, the Tigers defense. Just the secret weapon needed to get back into this thing.

      1. did you seriously lasso that (or whatever equivalent function that i'm ignorant of)? wow.

        1. No. Transparent PNG. I just found a gothic font, found the Detroit color, and kept the image background transparent.

            1. Which editor? I don't know if MS Paint can't do it, but anything better than that can. I did the above in Paint.NET and others in GIMP.

        2. If the background is white you can magic wand it and select inverse to capture just the text / image to accomplish the same thing.

          1. Or this. If you're editing text that already has a background, that's how you do it. I was starting from scratch, so it was easier to just not have a background.

  5. I love that even in Target Field you can pretty much tell when Willingham jacks a donger as soon as he hits it. No fence scrapers for Consuela.

    1. They have a -22 UZR, tied for 25th. They do have the worst defensive efficiency in the AL and third worst in the majors. Assuming average defensive efficiency, they would have 84 fewer hits/dudes on base because of an error. Off the top of my head, that's something like 65 runs better on defense. That would improve their runs given up per game from 4.45 to 3.88. I think that would put them at 65-51, or +4 wins.

        1. Negative. They left after the 6th. I then told the Calf how he was tougher than the kids older than him.

          1. With that said, if he had been successful I probably would have then began to beg for a ball.

    1. sorry. Work intervened for the last several hours.

Absolute Boo. Now I have to go home. Which guarantees a comeback, right???

  6. If the season ended right now the Minnesota Twins would not make the playoffs.

    1. A shout out to both of you in the other non-functioning game log LTE section.

      1. I can't tell if it's a bug in the plugin or WordPress is moving the closing font tag to before the shortcode.

  7. I am starting to worry that, as a Twins fan, I might have to start looking ahead to next season.

  8. Tough game, but just wait 'til Pedro Florimon gets here! We'll just have to settle for 96-66!
