  1. Someone at work came down with Pertussis last week. I had several meetings with her since she believes she had been exposed (on a flight), but before she showed symptoms. I slept on the couch last night because I didn't want my wife to be kept up from my coughing. I've never been happier to cough up a big chunk of phlegm than I was this morning. (Online info tells me that Pertussis coughs aren't phlegmy.)

[I think I shall expand this into my spookystory.]

    1. Great gif for Wolves fans, but what in the h*ll was that dude thinking?!? "Hmm, why don't I just take care of this IED myself?"

    1. Before we were married, my wife was gainfully employed (and after, for a while until she got pregnant). I found out after she quit her job that she wasn't into early (or even not so early) rising, much to my chagrin. I pleaded with and cajoled her for years to get up and out of bed earlier. Now that Miss SBG is in kindergarten and has to be there before 8 AM, my wife has to get up. I got a text from her at 6:30 this morning to the effect that she isn't tired and feels better getting up early and that perhaps she was oversleeping (for years!!!!!!). I am both happy that she's come to this realization and frustrated that it took six years of this to figure out an obvious truth: getting up early and getting stuff done before you get tired every day is a fundamental part of happiness.

      1. I learned that same lesson after I started getting up early. I've felt better about myself and about everything since I started doing it.

And I was never the type to need a ton of sleep compared to others, either (six and half to seven hours usually leaves me feeling fine) so I still get late nights to hang out by myself, too.

        1. Me, too. I was never an early riser until I started seminary and had to be because it was the only way I could get everything done. I found out that I am a lot more productive when I get up early. Now, it's pretty much a habit.

  2. Got our Notre Dame tix against Stanford this week. 40 yard line mid way up in the lower bowl. They were free by the way. Looked on Stub Hub and they are going for $500-$550 per. Told the wife we could sell them and pocket two large. That didn't go over very well.

  3. The LA Times waited a whole 57 minutes after the start of, but before the end of, Apple's iPhone5 presentation to publish a story wondering where the Apple bounce was. My favorite part:

Investors seemed to shrug off the announcement -- but that's not entirely shocking. Apple shares have, on average, fallen 1.4% the day the company launched all of the previous incarnations of the iPhone, according to Morgan Stanley.

    1. I take it back: here's my favorite part:

So, how high the stock will go is anybody's guess. Some analysts suggest Apple could even punch through the $1,000 mark. By comparison, Google Inc.stock is at $691 and Facebook shares at just above $21.

I wonder if the author realizes that not every company has the same number of shares outstanding.

      1. If they're lucky, it might even reach as high as Northern Pacific shares in early May 1901!

      2. The Facebook comparison is amusing. Both companies have publicly available stock, obviously they're the same!

  4. Twins 2013 Schedule is out.
Host Tigers to open the season on April 1, 3-4. Then to Baltimore.
Host Mets (3 games) and Marlins (2) in April, Travel to Atlanta in May (3).
Late May has a 2-game series in Milwaukee (Mon-Tues) followed by two games hosting the Brewers (Weds-Thurs).
Travel to Washington (3) and Miami (2) and host the Phils (3) in June, and then no more IL.
Play every Monday in April and May, none in June.
    4 day ASG Break.
Finish with seven at home, 3 vs Tigers, 4 vs Clevelands.
Last game on Sunday, Sept 29.

Anyone know which teams get to open or close the season in interleague play?

  5. So GW is apparently recruiting this guy in basketball. I really, really, really hope their are pitching the Accounting Department.

  6. Watching the replay of Ukraine vs. England world cup qualifier from yesterday. England just hit the post from in front of the net. Ukraine about to win 1-0.
